What needs to be done?

We're using NotebookLM to feed in candidate details for evaluation. Copy/pasting the information manually takes a lot of time.

Before we go entirely agentic, a quick fix can be:
Based on the content and fields we copy, a one click copy button can be added on applicant view/evaluate UI so that we can reduce some manual steps

Right now, we copy the details in this format and paste for each candidate:

Refined Requirement: One-Click Copy of Candidate Details for AI Evaluation

1. Purpose

Reduce the manual effort of copying candidate details before pasting them into NotebookLM (or similar AI evaluation tools) for candidate screening. A single button on the candidate view and evaluate pages should copy a pre-formatted text snippet to the user's clipboard — no manual field-by-field copy-pasting required.

• A "Copy for AI evaluation" button on the Applicant Details page (hr.applicant.details.show)
• The same button on the Evaluate page (used for both job and internship application evaluation)
• The button copies a structured text snippet to the clipboard in the exact format specified below
• The snippet includes: candidate name, application date, and all form fields stored against the application (e.g. "Reason for eligibility" and its value)

• Sending candidate details directly to any AI tool or external service
• Configuring which fields appear in the copied text
• Any changes to the existing application form or how form data is collected
• Bulk copy (copying multiple candidates at once)
• Any new route, controller method, or server-side API call

4. Functional Requirements

1. A button labelled "Copy for AI evaluation" (or equivalent short label such as "Copy details") must appear on the Applicant Details page and on the Evaluate page.

2. Clicking the button copies the following text to the clipboard:

3. After a successful copy, the button must give visible feedback to the user (e.g. the label briefly changes to "Copied!" or a tooltip appears) so they know the copy action succeeded.

4. The button must not submit any form or navigate away from the page.

5. The button must not appear disabled or hidden when form field data is absent; it copies whatever is available.

5. Business Rules / Constraints

• The copied date format must match the format already used across the portal for "applied on" dates: DD/MM/YYYY (e.g. 06/04/2026), consistent with config('constants.display_date_format').
• The feature uses the existing ClipboardJS library already loaded globally in the portal layout; no new JavaScript library is to be added.
• The text to be copied is assembled server-side in the Blade template and embedded in the button element; no additional HTTP request is made when the button is clicked.
• The button placement must not disrupt the existing layout of the card header or card body on either page.

7. Open Questions

• Should the button be shown at all when there are no form fields, or should it be hidden in that case? (Current requirement keeps it visible and copies the minimal two-line snippet. Confirm if this is acceptable or if the button should only appear when form data exists.)
• Is DD/MM/YYYY the only acceptable date format, or should it match the locale/display format from the portal config (config('constants.display_date_format'))? These are currently the same, but worth confirming explicitly.

1. Overview

Add a "Copy for AI evaluation" button to two HR recruitment pages — the Applicant Details page (details.blade.php) and the Evaluate page (edit.blade.php). Clicking the button copies a pre-formatted text snippet (applicant name, application date, and all non-empty form fields) to the user's clipboard, with visual "Copied!" feedback. No new routes, controllers, migrations, or JS libraries are needed.

2. Technical Analysis

Existing Code Assessment

• ClipboardJS 2.0.0 is already initialized globally in resources/js/app.js (line 11): var clipboard = new ClipboardJS(".btn-clipboard");
• The success handler already calls setTooltip(e.trigger, "Copied!") and hideTooltip(e.trigger) — so any element with class btn-clipboard, data-clipboard-text, and data-toggle="tooltip" will automatically get the copy + feedback behavior with zero additional JS.
• Existing usage pattern on the details page (line 36):

• Application date: The $application model uses Eloquent timestamps, so $application->created_at is a Carbon instance. Format with ->format(config('constants.display_date_format')) which yields d/m/Y.
• Form data: Available as $applicationFormDetails (from $application->applicationMeta()->formData()->first()). The value field is a JSON string where keys = field labels, values = answers. Decoded via json_decode($applicationFormDetails->value).
• Blade templates affected:
  • resources/views/hr/application/details.blade.php — 1 button location (card header, lines 27–41)
  • resources/views/hr/application/edit.blade.php — The "Applicant Details" card appears in two places within this template:
    1. Pre-trial tab section (~line 442–632): shown when the round is "Resume Screening" inside pre-trial rounds
    2. Regular rounds section (~line 950–1153): shown when the round is "Resume Screening" outside trial rounds
  • Both locations in edit.blade.php need the button.

Architecture Decisions

1. Create a Blade partial (resources/views/hr/application/copy-for-ai-evaluation.blade.php) to hold the button markup and the server-side text assembly logic. This avoids triplicating the text-building logic across three insertion points.
2. Assemble clipboard text server-side in Blade using @php block inside the partial — keeps all logic in one place, embedded in the button's data-clipboard-text attribute.
3. Reuse the existing btn-clipboard class — no new JS, no new event handlers. The global ClipboardJS instance + tooltip feedback handler already cover everything.
4. Style as a Bootstrap button (btn btn-outline-secondary btn-sm) to distinguish it from the primary "Evaluate" and "Send mail" action buttons.

• No new npm/composer dependencies.
• No changes to webpack.mix.js, controllers, routes, or models.

Manual Testing Checklist

• Details page — with form data: Navigate to an applicant's details page where the application has form-data in hr_application_meta. Click the copy button. Paste into a text editor. Verify the format includes name, date, and all non-empty form field labels/values.
• Details page — without form data: Navigate to an applicant's details page where no form-data meta exists. Click copy. Verify only the header line and name+date line are copied.
• Evaluate page — job application at Resume Screening: Open the evaluate page for a job application currently in the Resume Screening round. Verify the copy button appears in the Applicant Details card. Click and verify.
• Evaluate page — internship application at Resume Screening: Same as above for an internship application.
• Empty form field values skipped: For an application where some form fields have empty/null values, verify those fields do not appear in the copied text.
• Date format correct: Verify the date in the copied text is in DD/MM/YYYY format (e.g., 14/04/2026).
• Special characters: Test with an applicant name containing special characters (e.g., quotes, ampersands). Verify the copied text is correct and the HTML doesn't break.
• Tooltip feedback: After clicking, verify "Copied!" tooltip appears and disappears after ~1 second.
• No form submission: Verify clicking the button does not submit the evaluation form or cause page navigation.
• No permission gating: Verify any authenticated user who can access the details/evaluate page sees the button (no extra Spatie permission needed).

Browser-Based Validation

3. Look for the "Copy for AI evaluation" button in the card header
4. Click it and paste the result into a text editor
5. Click "Evaluate" to go to the Evaluate page
6. Look for the same button in the "Applicant Details" section
7. Click it and verify the copied content matches

7. Risks & Considerations

• HTML entity encoding in data-clipboard-text: If applicant names or form values contain characters like ", <, >, or &, Blade's {{ }} syntax auto-escapes them for HTML attributes. ClipboardJS reads from the DOM attribute, so the copied text will contain the original characters (not HTML entities). This is correct behavior.
• Newlines in data-clipboard-text: The implode("\n", ...) will produce actual newline characters in the HTML attribute value. This is valid HTML and ClipboardJS handles it correctly — the pasted text will have proper line breaks.
• Long form field values: If a form field value is very long (e.g., a multi-paragraph essay), the data-clipboard-text attribute will be large but functional. No truncation is applied per the requirements.
• ClipboardJS browser support: ClipboardJS 2.0 works in all modern browsers. Fallback for very old browsers is out of scope.
• Button inside <form> on edit page: The button must use type="button" or be a <span> element (not a <button>) to avoid accidentally submitting the evaluation form. The proposed implementation uses a <span>, which is safe.

8. Future Enhancements (Out of Scope)

• Configurable field selection: Allow HR admins to choose which fields are included in the AI evaluation snippet.
• Bulk copy for multiple candidates: Copy details for several candidates at once for batch AI evaluation.
• Direct AI integration: Send the copied text directly to an AI evaluation API instead of requiring manual paste.
• Custom prompt template: Allow users to configure the text template/prompt wrapper around the candidate details.
• Copy resume content: Include parsed resume text in the clipboard snippet.
