Versions 2.0 and above do not connect to Zebra Printer

I am not able to print to our Zebra printer (ZQ620) directly from the Intercross app on any version above 2.0.
Version 1.0.2 does work as expected.

Clicking on the "Zebra Print Connect" in Settings just brings up the Zebra Printer Utility in Google Playstore which is already installed.

Version of Zebra Printer Setup Utility is 2.4.4436 or 2.3.4212. The Zebra Utility is connected via Bluetooth to the printer and does work.
tablet is a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

Hi Trevor I've tried the Zebra label trait in versions 6.3.2 and 7.1.1 of the Fieldbook app. Both work fine and print correctly to the Zebra printer. Thanks Robyn

@rlmorgan7 That's good to know so that we can reuse the code. We'll work on bringing in that functionality in the next Intercross update.

@rlmorgan7 What version of Android are you running? You can see this in Settings/About Phone.

Also, when you click print in Intercross, do you see your paired printer?

I'm using version 2.0.3 of Intercross, I can print labels with a ZQ510 on Android version 16. FieldBook actually uses the same code as Intercross for printing (originally it was built in Intercross). Intercross does have additional features to create your own template which might be causing this issue. Can you tell me the size of your labels and if you used a custom template?

Hi They are on Android version 14. One UI version 6.1 Also (and I think the Fieldbook trait is set up this way), but can it be set up so we don't have to choose the printer every time a tag is printed? Thanks

1. When you click print in Intercross, do you see your paired printer?

This is likely a Zebra template issue. Going off of issue #68 as well, which had a "robyn.zpl" file I've found the following:

1. the intercross zpl example was outdated, which may have led to labels not printing
2. problems in the TRIAL.zpl file may have been causing issues as well

I've created a PR that will include an updated default template, an additional 3x2 template, and additional printing settings. On your first print it will ask and save your printer and default label template (which can then be updated in the settings).

Additional details for customizing your label:

I found this TRIAL.zpl in a robyn.zip file:

1. ^DFR:TRIAL.GRF should be ^DFR:TEMPLATE
   All Intercross loaded templates should be named TEMPLATE, or else we can't guarantee they will work, it is dependent on what is loaded into the memory of your printer.

2. Ideally, your start of file should include ^MN, ^MM, ^MT, ^PW, ^LL and ^LH commands, fine-tuning these will guarantee the print will work, and you won't need the PrintConnect app installed. ^A0N,25,20 Here you are setting a font type to a barcode encoding with ^A0N,25,20 I'm not currently sure what this would do

^BQN,2,6 you are using a magnification factor of 6 which is recommended for 600 dpi printers, the ZQ620 is a 203 DPI so the magnification should be 2

^FDQA, This will prepend "QA, " to all of your barcode encodings, which is probably your intention

Although I do not have access to a ZQ620, I'm hoping the default 3x2 template I made will work for you, if you could test it that would be very helpful. If you are interested in creating a custom template, I can help with that, but will need to know:

1. Size of the label
2. Type of media, continuous, or non-continuous (notch, perforation, etc)

I don't have 3x2 labels (we only have 2x1) so I won't be able to test that for you, but I can look at it otherwise.

Issue #68 was when I first had issues and we realized that the naming of the file was incorrect (among other issues). I have also improved my template file since then :) This is the template file that I am currently using, which works fine with the intercross v1 and our printer.

No problem, and thank you for being so responsive.

I did find an issue with printing male parent labels, it actually wasn't possible to print them in version 2. I've made a fix for that.

I also tested importing your label and found it worked. I did notice that when the crossIds are long (especially if they are auto generated from the app) it will overlap with your barcode. Although in that case I could still successfully scan the QR code. Also using the PQ2 command will print two labels for each print.
