Hyperlinks in Metadata Values #229

Description

@mtwente

Current Behavior

When the source metadata field consists of a string that contains both a URL and plain text separated by punctuation, the punctuation is interpreted as part of the URL, resulting in a 404 if clicking on that hyperlink. This occurs with hyperlinks that are separated from following content in the metadata field using ; or .. If the URL is entered with a closing forward slash / (still followed by semicolon and/or dot), the link will still work.

Steps To Reproduce

See for example the values of the source field for...

  • m35975_4: source has a DOI link followed by a dot, the dot is rendered as part of the DOI.
  • m34504_1: source has a DOI link followed by a semicolon, the semicolon is rendered as part of the DOI.
  • m29212_1: source has two URLs, but since the punctuation is preceded by a forward slash, the URL still works.
