AppImage window does not appear on Steam Deck

This is really neat, thanks for Singularity and for looking into Linux support.

Running the AppImage directly or through the terminal launches Singularity as shown by the app's entry in the task manager toolbar, however no window appears.

Terminal output:

I extracted the AppImage and was able to execute the Singularity binary directly:

Looks like I need to get the libwebkit2gtk library on my Steam Deck, though I have seen discussions such as pyfa-org/Pyfa#2512 (comment) that suggest AppImages should include necessary libraries. EDIT: I installed libwebkit2gtk on my Deck and the same error occurs.

The Steam Deck has a bit better support for Flatpaks, would it be possible to create a Singularity Flatpak?

I made a pre-release AppImage that disables the Webkit DMABUF Renderer that is kinda known for causing visual issues with Webview app, dont know if that will be enough, but you mentioned the app not crashing, so in theory it runs.

Hm, I tried to run the AppImage through WSL on Windows and it did run the app, although it didn't auto detect the GCMODSETTINGS and clicking to Open the mods folder didn't open, but I assume those might be related to me not running the app in a proper linux install, so whatever the issue is might be with Steam Deck only,

Try to open the terminal of the Steam Deck and run these commands:

This will Disable DMA Buf
WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 ./Singularity_2.2.7_amd64.AppImage

If it fails try this that will Disable Compositing:

WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 ./Singularity_2.2.7_amd64.AppImage

All else fails try the last resort with this one that will use Software Rendering:

LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 ./Singularity_2.2.7_amd64.AppImage

I also updated the app with some fixes that might help in case of case-sensitivity issues.

I tried those env vars, but the incompatibilities were deeper issues than that. PR #2 should address it, I'm using the generated Flatpak on my NixOS laptop and Steam Deck successfully.

The changes in the default capabilities broke for windows tho, it can't find the GCMODSETTINGS file anymore since you hardcoded an allowlist instead of looking for everything.

The "**" wildcard was too permissive, autodetection on Linux was broken without specifying the locations due to not allowing that broad of access. Can we try combining both, or can you share the Windows locations and I'll include those?

I've tested the Windows portable and all of the Linux releases, and auto-detection and locale loading are both working correctly now. Can you please review #4?
