AliveGR, version 3.0.0 is about to come out

[Twilight0]

It is now time after 10 years of development and a three years hiatus to get it out in due time.

• On the surface its a simple change, mostly removing least-used features and things that broke almost every few days (gamato kids)
• Then its the maintainability of it. Previous versions had a lot of "spaghetti" code, complexity, python 2 compatibility statements and wrappers etc.
• Lots of options were never been tweaked and most just stayed using the defaults or maybe users just couldn't understand what they even do, despite having help text (Matrix 19+).

Checklist:

• Finalise AliveGR itself, initially with an alpha*, but stable and fully usable release version
• Finalise Tulip Library collection. Lots of breaking changes for existing (now dormant) addons (Ant1 Player, Star Player etc)
• Networking, dom parsers, fuzzywuzzy search, m3u8, scrapetube, function cache, all split into separate modules as dependencies
• New artwork theme is now included and is being made the default one
• Update PluginsGR (external ResolveURL plugins) for the lots of changes that happened in official sources.

[Twilight0]

New icons and theme will be added to this version

[srobotis-cell]

Looks great

[Twilight0]

New artwork as the default one

[george-sialmas]

Nice, looking forward to installing this version.

[Twilight0]

Live channels in the 3.0.0+ version will have the "BUP" and alternative streams removed and in their place an automatic choice of the working stream will be put.

[george-sialmas]

When is v3 going to be released?

[Twilight0]

When its ready. I ve already stated it's a massive step forward.

[kolekan]

script.module.unicache depedency error when trying updating

[george-sialmas]

Are you attempting to install v3 when it hasn't been officially released yet?

[Twilight0]

Version 3.0.0~alpha2 has been released, have it tested folks and please report back.

[Finnegan-Sean-Thronton]

got past the dependency on script.module.m3u8 error. Now, when I run aliveGR it just says check the log

[george-sialmas]

I don't get that error, but mine is a fresh Kodi install. There is still an issue with TV series playback though. I don't know if this issue is resolved yet by @Twilight0 .

[george-sialmas]

I wonder if I need a VPN connected to Greece to watch all the various Greek TV Series/Shows, since I'm based in Australia.

[Proppyblue]

Yes, something about script.module.m3u8 version 6.0.0 could not be satisfied....beyond my pay grade.

[Twilight0]

Alpha cyprus works for new website structure, origin still has the old one, that's why they do not play.

[kolekan]

After updating to 3.0.0~alpha2 there is an error with the m3u8 module

[Twilight0]

@Sean-Thornton It is true that 3.0.0 alpha versions are still rough around the edges. Eventually everything will be fixed. In regards to Ant1 it probably requires custom headers.

[Finnegan-Sean-Thronton]

@Twilight0 I understand, just letting you know what I have found. Maybe in Alpha 6.
Note:

• AliveGR 3.0.0~alpha5
• Still, these don't open. ANT1, ANT1 Comedy, ANT1 Drama, Mega...
• Kodi 21.3 on FireStick (and on Kodi PC)
• VPN: using Greek servers

[Finnegan-Sean-Thronton]

And the crowd goes wild!!! ANT1, ANT1 Comedy, ANT1 Drama, and Mega are back. Looks like Alpha 6 fixed them. Thanks @Twilight0

[george-sialmas]

@Sean-Thornton which VPN are you using Through spliiit?

[Finnegan-Sean-Thronton]

@george-sialmas I'm using NordVPN on the firestick and Surfshark on the PC.

[zouzounos3]

From alpha6 the pllugin is usable again.,, 👍

[Finnegan-Sean-Thronton]

alpha6. Mega is doing their shinangagins again? Something about resolve url failing. Will keep checking to see if it fixes itself.
