Differences from Myriad that need to be investigated

There a number of items in this documentation that were copied from Myriad and which I am unsure whether they apply for the DSH HPC. Investigation and testing should be done to ensure we are not leading our users astray!

Some examples include:

• qsub emailing (3.3-Running_jobs.md)
  • I don't think this is enabled in the DSH, and if it is, I am unsure how the "walled garden" aspect of the DSH might interfere with the email that would be sent.
• Interactive jobs (3.3-Running_jobs.md, and 3-DSH_Cluster.md)
  • The existing DSH HPC internal documentation (e.g. our SOP wikis) only references qlogin for interactive jobs. We should investigate (a) whether DSH HPC supports qrsh, and (b) what the difference is between qlogin and qrsh.
• MPI (3.1-Installing_software.md, 3.6-Interactive_jobs.md, and 9-Glossary.md)
  • Specifically, cross-node MPI is not supported in the DSH. Unsure if it is otherwise supported and usable.
• OpenMP (3.3-Running_jobs.md)
  • Untested; unsure if this is unavailable in DSH.
• prolog and epilog files (3.5-Job_results.md)
  • Untested; unsure if these exist in DSH.

• qsub -m does not work. It doesn't show any error in case it is used but it never notifies to the user.
• Interactive jobs: Both qrsh and qlogin with smp cannot requets more than 16 cores or will be waiting eternally. There seems to be no diffreence between qlogin and qrsh. It is possible to ask for an interactive session with MPI and request more than 16 processes (with qlogin and MPI).
• MPI jobs: Not installed/working in DSH. Compiler not found but it is possible to request interactive sessions with MPI
• OpenMP: Is available in DSH, run an easy example with OpenMP in an interactive job and worked. Also, I noticed when using smp in a job, if more than 16 cores are asked, the job will be forever in the queue, no error is given. The system register as there is no job submitted but qstat shows the job in queue.
• **prolog and epilog** files do not show up here but they are not seen in Myriad either.
