In TF2, you can still fire your weapon while reloading, which will cancel the reload animation. Most players use the "auto-reload" setting because of this. Other weapons have alt-fire functions that also cancel the reload animation to perform the action. The Shortstop's alt-fire shove seems to be the exception to this for some reason, and should be changed so that it's easier to use it in combat. You currently have to wait to fully reload, or hold alt-fire while firing for it to try to shove if you're using auto-reload, which is really irritating.
