Author and Date visibility are shared by native Posts and native Pages, but neither menu says so. Hiding Author in Posts immediately hides it in Pages; Date behaves the same way in either direction and the choice survives reload.
This can look like a separate Pages setting changed on its own.
How to reproduce
- Open native Posts and native Pages.
- In Posts, open Window actions → Show columns.
- Hide Author.
- Inspect Pages and its Show columns menu.
- Author is hidden and unchecked there too.
What should change
Either store separate choices for Posts and Pages, or make the shared scope explicit in both menus:
- Author (shared by Posts and Pages)
- Date (shared by Posts and Pages)
