Sure, there is a way to provide HTTPS support, as Lighttpd itself supports it.

I added in server constructor

hostname: "localhost",
port: 443,
extraConfig: `
    server.modules += ("mod_openssl")
    $SERVER["socket"] == ":443" {
       ssl.engine = "enable" 
       ssl.pemfile = "${fileDir}/certs/cert.pem"
       ssl.privkey = "${fileDir}/certs/key.pem" 
     }

and checked if files exists by using

let fileDir = resolveAssetsPath("build")
await exists(fileDir + '/certs/cert.pem')
await exists(fileDir + '/certs/key.pem')

but the server crashes. Maybe I'm doing something wrong ?

You also need to update this library, to make the mod_openssl module actually included into the build. You can search the codebase & docs for webdav (mod_webdav) for the example of how it should be wired in.
