Postgres machine upgrade?

After spending time to configure Fly, you discover that the Postgres machine is unstable. Worse, after a while, communication between the Phx server and the Pg machine is lost... 👎

So I increase the PG machine memory to 512mb (normally PG uses around 150mb). Seems stable now

So far the experience of Hetzner has been good for running a Postgres Cluster
but the minimum cost for the 3-node cluster is € 21.87 + VAT / month
because it also requires a load balancer and management node ...
(so isn't a "cheap" alternative to Fly.io ...)

Autobase is a solution for deploying high-availability (HA) production-grade PostgreSQL clusters.

However, depending on your current stage, you might not need to pay extra for HA just yet. You could start with a single-node cluster without load balancers and revisit HA later when you’re ready for production.

The most important thing is to configure backups and test your recovery process — so that if your single database server fails, you can quickly create a new one from a backup.
