[Windows 11 ARM64]: Agent upgrade failed while upgrading Windows agent from 9.2.2 SNAPSHOT to 9.3.0 SNAPSHOT. #11672

Kibana Build details:

VERSION: 9.3.0 SNAPSHOT
BUILD: 94200
COMMIT: 36db4d9d2879c273b327342197440300198d6fb7

Host OS: All

Preconditions:

  1. 9.3.0 SNAPSHOT Kibana should be available.
  2. Agent Policy should be created.
  3. Windows ARM64 agent (v9.2.2) should be installed.
  4. 9.2.2 SNAPSHOT agent binary should be added.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to Fleet>Agents tab.
  2. Upgrade Windows Arm agent from 9.2.2 to 9.3.0 SNAPSHOT.
  3. Observe agent starts upgrading and after sometime fails.
  4. Navigate to Agents Logs.
  5. Observe that error is displayed for upgrade failed.

generating package name failed: 'windows-binary-arm64' is not a valid combination for a package
generating package name failed: 'windows-binary-arm64' is not a valid combination for a package; retrying in 43.311678001s.

Note: This issue is also reproducible when upgrading a standalone agent.

Expected Result:

  • Windows ARM64 agent should successfully upgrade from 9.2.2 SNAPSHOT → 9.3.0 SNAPSHOT without falling back to an older version.
  • Standalone agent upgrade should also complete successfully for Windows ARM64.
