Ads on Android TV, interesting. It is actually possible that it can already work today. flet/sdk/python/packages/flet-ads/src/flet_ads/base_ad.py Lines 69 to 75 in 5f23f24
Let us know if it works - in which case we can make a PR to update the condition accordingly. |

Okay. Let me try it. |

Thanks @ndonkoHenri, I tried it on an Android TV. The override works: the banner and interstitial controls mount on the TV instead of raising the exception. But Google never serves anything there. Every request comes back with LoadAdError code 3, "No fill", from com.google.android.gms.ads, for the banner and for the interstitial. After a few retries the SDK starts answering code 1: "Too many recently failed requests for ad unit ID... You must wait a few seconds before making another ad request." I also tried Google's own public test unit (ca-app-pub-3940256099942544/6300978111) and it failed the same way on the TV, while the same build on phones loads ads on the first try. So the missing piece is not in flet-ads. Google's documentation says "The Google Mobile Ads SDK for Android does not support Android TV" (developers.google.com/admob/android/sdk), and the team has said the same in this group. The control can mount, but there is no ad request behind it that Google will answer on a TV. And that's actually why I initially tried to wrap Google's IMA SDK myself. I was hoping to find an ad solution that could work on Android TV, but I couldn't get my Flet wrapper running reliably enough, so I eventually gave up on it. |

Hi everyone,
I build KTV Player with Flet. It is a video player that runs on Android phones, Android TV, Windows and Linux, and the free tier is supposed to be paid for by ads.
The phone side works: flet_ads with AdMob banner and interstitial. The rest is a problem:
So here is the request: is anyone here experienced with Flet extensions and open to building an ad extension around a maintained Flutter plugin? From my research the healthiest candidates are:
The Flutter side already exists and is maintained. What is missing is the Flet extension around it.
One more question: does AdMob have any path on Android TV through Flet, or is TV excluded on purpose upstream? If flet_ads could run on TV that would solve half my problem on its own.
Thanks for reading.
