Privacy Policy for Promptly

Last Updated: March 16, 2026

Promptly ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how information is handled within the extension.

1. Data Collection and Usage

Promptly is designed with a privacy-first, local-only architecture.

  • Personal Information: The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, such as your name, email address, or browsing history.
  • Prompt Data: All AI prompts, tags, and custom settings you create are stored locally on your device using the browser's storage.local API. This data never leaves your computer and is not accessible by the developer or any third parties.

2. Third-Party Services

  • GitHub: The Extension fetches curated community prompts from the official Promptly GitHub repository (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/). This is a one-way request to retrieve data; no user information is sent to GitHub during this process.
  • External Links: If you use the sharing feature (via ken.tools), a unique client-side link is generated. The processing happens entirely in your browser.

3. Cookies and Tracking

Promptly does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any form of telemetry. We do not monitor your usage patterns or track which websites you visit.

4. Data Security

Because your data is stored locally within your browser's profile, its security is tied to the security of your device and browser. We recommend keeping your browser updated and using device-level security features.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be documented here and in the Extension's repository.

6. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can open an issue on our GitHub repository.
