FR: Make it possible to bind 'New tmub Tab' in shortcuts

In tmux control mode it would be very helpful if I could open a new tmux tab entirely from my keyboard.

You already can. ⌘-shift-r will open a new tmux tab if you are currently focused on an existing tmux control mode tab. And then the ⌘t action taken is configurable in Settings->Connections->Multiplexers->tmux Control Mode->New Tab Action. The choices are “Local Shell”, “New tmux Tab”, and “Ask Each Time”. The same thing applies in terms of needing to be on a tmux tab already, otherwise it wouldn’t know which gateway to open something up on. (I guess if you only had one it could default to that, but it doesn’t).

Technically this isn’t a dedicated keyboard shortcut for just “New tmux Tab” which I could still add, as its overloading of two pre-existing shortcuts which are customizable on their own.

I suppose this same feature could be expanded to offer a choice outside of anything tmux specific. ie local vs connection view?

Ah, okay, I hadn't thought to look there for the option. Perhaps a better default would be the "Ask Each Time" as that is what iTerm2 does. And the dialog could then alert the user to that is is possible to change behavior.

I had been looking for "New tmux Tab" expecting to find it in Terminal->Keyboard Shortcuts. It probably does make sense to allow it as its own bindable action. That way if I did want ⌘T to still be bound to opening a local shell for whatever reason, I could do something like bind Shift-⌘T to “New tmux Tab”.

Yes, I could see it potentially making sense to generalize it so that ⌘T could open up another tab based upon the current context, whether that is local shell, remote connection, or multiplexed view.
