Specific herdr command

I have the initial command as herdr once an ssh connects, but how can I have it run herdr --remote 22h://username@host instead of going in ssh and then running herdr? Might be obvious so sorry for the issue report.

Sorry should have said that I want to save it as a profile, I know I can do it manually, but saving it would be so much easier.

Is there a feature in herdr that you are wanting to leverage that you cannot accomplish with tmux control mode paired with tssh as a protocol? The combination of these two gets you fully native rendering, scroll back, text selection, way lower interactive latency, and full dynamic roaming across transports (cellular -> WiFi, etc). Regular mode of tmux, zellij, and herdr you lose much of this including our ProMotion pixel smooth scrolling. In other terminal apps that don't support control mode I can see why you want something like herdr. With our vertical tab mode with group support that you can run in a pinned or unpinned mode you can really organize things. In any case juts want to make sure you are aware of your options.

rootshell allows you to either launch a specific command as your login shell to the remote server, or to send keystrokes into the terminal once a remote session is established. Either of these should be able to auto attach to your herdr sessions as part of a profile. How is this not accomplishing what you are after?

Following the default herdr install instruction on a test Ubuntu 24.04 server just placing /home/kit/.local/bin/herdr as the "Run as initial command" in a profile attaches me automatically when I launch that profile.

Thanks for the reply. Most of what you said doesn't make sense to me just yet, I'm extremely new to all of this and am using it for vibe coding and website management with Claude and Gemini. Herdr has been good but I'm not tied to it and what you said sounds better anyway, I just have no idea how to set it up to use from any of my tailnet machines or the app on my iPhone. I have it going with just herdr but you loose pasting images and things like that if you don't use --remote, so your way would likely be better. Thank you!

I started work to more fully integrate herdr into rootshell as it appeared that there was the required support to do something similar to tmux control mode, but unfortunately there are major API gaps and its going to require upstreaming changes into herdr to make anything that works well.

Ah ok. Well I'm going to keep using it for herdr anyway since it's way better than any other apps I've tried, so thank you for a great app!
