I have a T-Watch Ultra and a T-Watch S3.
I connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone.

The T-Watch S3 connects fine.
The T-Watch Ultra keeps reconnecting and can't get a dynamically assigned IP address.

This build is not from develop. variants/esp32s3/t-watch-ultra exists only on the unmerged t-watch-ultra branch; develop carries only the T_WATCH_ULTRA = 114 hardware model enum. The reported version 2.8.0.5b17e58 matches that branch tip, 5b17e581a. [env:t-watch-ultra] declares no board_level, so there is no release artifact for this target.

The attached log does not show the reported symptom. It ends at 08:22:45 Connected to access point, runs 18 more seconds, and contains no DHCP timeout, no Obtained IP address and no further disconnect. Association succeeded on the second attempt, after Reason: 2 - AUTH_EXPIRE followed by Reason: 36 - STA_LEAVING.

Needed before this can be triaged:

1. Where the build came from, and confirmation of the exact commit.
2. Firmware version running on the T-Watch S3 used for comparison.
3. Output of meshtastic --get network. A static ipv4_config produces association without an address and would not be visible in this log.
4. Whether the Ultra obtains an address from a normal access point rather than a phone hotspot.
5. Phone model, hotspot band and hotspot security mode. ESP32-S3 is 2.4 GHz only, and WPA3-SAE is a known source of AUTH_EXPIRE.
6. Two to three minutes of log following the connect event.

Also present in the log, unrelated to WiFi:

• failed to initialize CST92xx, preceded by TouchDrvCST92xx ... Firmware info read error and i2c_master_transmit failed: ESP_ERR_INVALID_STATE. ScanI2C additionally reports CST328 found at address 0x1a from a register read of 0xff.
• Invalid channel index 0 > 0, malformed packet received? from Channels.cpp:356, emitted during boot config load.
• NVS does not persist across reboots on this build. Filed separately as [Bug]: NVS does not persist across reboots on t-watch-ultra #11530.
