ModifyVolume feature example

  • Feature Status: GA from Kubernetes 1.34
  • supported from Azure Disk CSI driver v1.30.2

Supported parameters in VolumeAttributesClass

  • DiskIOPSReadWrite: disk IOPS
  • DiskMBpsReadWrite: disk throughput
  • skuName: disk type

Changing the skuName to or from UltraSSD_LRS is not permitted. For additional information, please consult the following resource Change the disk type of an Azure managed disk

Here is an example of the VolumeAttributesClass used to update the disk IOPS and throughput on an Azure PremiumV2 disk:

Usage

Create a StorageClass, PVC and pod

The following example creates a PremiumV2_LRS disk

kubectl apply -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kubernetes-sigs/azuredisk-csi-driver/master/deploy/example/nginx-pod-azuredisk.yaml

Wait until the PVC reaches the Bound state and the pod is in the Running state.

Create a new VolumeAttributesClass

Update the existing PVC to refer to the newly created VolumeAttributesClass

kubectl patch pvc pvc-azuredisk --patch '{"spec": {"volumeAttributesClassName": "premium2-disk-class"}}'

Wait until the VolumeAttributesClass is applied to the volume
