I purchased a domain name for the church through spaceship.com. I followed the instructions in the settings for domain and added both the A and CNAME info in the advanced DNS records.

The website is still not coming up. I can see it if I go to the b1.church link, but not our church domain link. It's been several days of me trying to troubleshoot this and I'll be upfront that I don't understand how all this works, but I can follow instructions and typically find whatever I need to find.

It sounds like the B1 site itself is working correctly (fumcluling.b1.church), so the issue is likely with the custom-domain DNS configuration rather than the website.

Since you're using Spaceship, I'd check these first:

1. Make sure the domain is exactly fumc-luling.com and there aren't any conflicting A/AAAA/CNAME records for @ or www.
2. Check that the A record and CNAME record match exactly what B1 provides in the domain settings.
3. If you're using www, make sure it has its own CNAME record pointing to the B1 target.
4. Remove any old/parking/redirect records that could conflict with the B1 records.
5. DNS changes can take some time to propagate, but after several days I'd suspect a record/configuration issue rather than normal propagation.

One thing that would make this much easier to diagnose: could you post a screenshot of the DNS records currently configured in Spaceship (you can hide anything sensitive)?

Then someone can compare the records against the B1 domain configuration and identify exactly what needs to be changed.

The problem was a bug in our Caddy server that handles the TLS certificates for custom domains. It was working for existing domains but not being updated when a user added a new domain. This was resolved last week and the site is online. Just adding a note for future reference here.
