Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing this, and for the kind words! On the attribution question: I can only speak for the DiceBear styles, which are CC0, and for the DiceBear code, which is MIT licensed. Of your seven styles, that covers Thumbs. The other styles come from artists who chose their own licenses. Often that's a Creative Commons license, but not always. Please read the license texts for those styles, or ask a lawyer if you're unsure. You'll find an overview with links to every license here: https://www.dicebear.com/licenses/ |

Hi Florian, I'm Kevin, a developer from Germany. When I sign up for a new account, I like adding an avatar, usually one made with DiceBear. I wanted a place to do that quickly and keep every one I'd made, so I built createavataaars.com on DiceBear 9.4, and I tried making it feel like creating a new character in a video game. I wanted to show it here and say thank you.
It has seven styles (Avataaars, Notionists, Lorelei, Adventurer, Adventurer Neutral, Big Smile, Thumbs), each with a template grid and every option as a strip of thumbnails. Each thumbnail is the whole avatar with one part changed.
The browser draws every download, so the site renders almost nothing on the server. An avatar's link is its options packed into eight characters, so links resolve without storage, and
/a/<code>.svgworks directly in an<img>tag. There is also a remote MCP server at createavataaars.com/mcp, so agents can make avatars too. Each style shows its artist's credit under the avatar and inside every file, taken from DiceBear's own
meta, with DiceBear credited on the imprint and in the Thumbs credit. Are you happy with how DiceBear is attributed, and is there a link you'd rather it pointed to, on the main generator or on the Thumbs page? Thanks for making all of this possible. All reactions
