Rooted Graphene installable over "stock" graphene if bootloader unlocked?

I am not very familiar with recent android developments and am just trying out graphene. I would like to know if I can replace standard graphene with rooted graphene without losing my apps and data (signal history, etc), assuming I do not re-lock my bootloader?

This is likely not going to work because grapheneos and rooted-graphene are signed with different keys. To switch you'll have to run fastboot erase avb_custom_key which wipes your system AFAIK.
