Docs for building from scratch?

I have this issue: #454
This renders official builds of pedalboard completely unusable.

It stalls unfixed for about 2 months. I would like to build my own wheel of pedalboard but found no docs covering this and I'm facing a serious dependency hell, missing headers, includes, etc. and don't really want to spend hours of trial-and-error experimenting.

What are the build dependencies?
What -dev packages do I need to install?
I'm on Debian Trixie.

Aside from the dependencies on that document, I also had to install cmake, alsa-lib-dev.

Even so, builds fail for me:

I only found references to this being a GNU extension of some sort, but have no idea which dependency might be missing.

The build failure seems to be some glibc-extension, so building from source on non-glibc seems like a dead end. But CONTRIBUTING.md has build instructions for macOS, which doesn't use glibc, so I'm confused as to whether glibc is required or not. This specific extension is for resolving country codes. I can't imagine how this is necessary for rendering audio.

Hi! I’d like to investigate this issue further. I’ll try reproducing the build on Debian and go through the dependency setup mentioned here. If I can identify missing steps or gaps in the documentation, I’d be happy to help improve the build instructions.
