Scrapers not working anymore

Hello guys,

I'm really confused and I searched a lot of time to find any solution but I can find anything unfortunately.

I used Stash for a lot of time now and everything was working fine. One day, the scrapers stopped working but I didn't changed anything. I tried a lot of things : changing DNS, rebooting PC and internet box, changing my API keys... Finally, I found that doing the update of Stashapp made the stashdb and theporndb scrapers working again. But I still had an issue with an other scraper, CopyToGallery (which copy the metadata from a scene to the associated gallery, really useful).

Few days ago the scrapers stopped working again. This time, doing the update didn't solved anything and I'm running out of solutions !

Is anyone having an idea ?

Unable to authenticate with Stash: make sure 'config.ini' in the 'py_common' folder has the correct API Key

Some scrapers need to do more communication with Stash and they can't do this if you've enabled authentication (a username/password) on your Stash.

To fix this you can go to your scrapers folder and find the py_common folder and open the config.ini file you'll find there: there should be a field called api_key where you can fill in your API key that's available in the Stash settings. Once you've filled it out it should look like this (but with your API key instead):

url = http://localhost:9999

# API key can be generated in Stash's settings page: `Settings > Security > Authentication`
api_key = eyJleGFtcGxlIjoidGhpcyBpcyBub3QgYSByZWFsIGtleSJ9

You could also turn off authentication, but that's probably not a great solution since I assume you have good reason to want that 🙂

The thing is that I triple checked this : authentication is a not turned on, I also tried to turn it on then off, and nothing changed. I also already tried to modify the config.ini file but the API key is already the good one...

I get the following error as soon as stash is launched :

Couldn't retrieve latest version: Github API request failed: Get "https://api.github.com/repos/stashapp/stash/releases/latest": write tcp IP ADRESS->OTHER IP ADRESS: wsasend: Une connexion existante a dû être fermée par l’hôte distant.

That's why I assumed it was an issue with my Wifi for exemple, but it worked again with an update before not working again. So I don't really understand what is not working here...

I have the lastest release and I also checked if the last pre-release worked better, but no change

Can you confirm that Stash is running on port 9999? The error message you got is only triggered if the scraper connects to port 9999, sends the API key from your config file, and still gets a 401 (unauthenticated) status code response. This usually means that you need to double-check to make sure the API is current, but it could also mean that another application is running on port 9999... although that is not very likely, as far as I can remember the most common collision is with some Acronis cybersecurity products and I don't think they'd respond with a 401.

I am not sure what could be causing the other connection error you're seeing, but it does indicate some network issues that are probably not related to Stash.

I just tried (to be sure) to enable authentication, copied the api key generated into the config file, then reboot everything but it still doesn't work. I disabled it again and delete the api key in the config file but doesn't work either...

I don't think I have anything else running on 9999 port honestly.

I tried also with the 4G network of my phone but it's always the same issue

Hello all,
Problem resolved with Chat GPT. Thank god... The problem was Kaspersky antivirus, it was blocking a lot of connections. Completely uninstalled and it's working now !
