Redirect, but root url only

Hello.
One of my domains is used for technical purposes and I would like it to redirect to the clients site.
But I have virtual directories set up on this domain, and simple redirect
techsite.com -> clientsite.com
renders virtual directories inaccessible.
Is it possible to set up a redirect only from techsite.com/ but not from techsite.com/something?
