It would be a great feature for the header-container to scroll when there are too many steps to be displayed at once when in horizontal mode.
Currently, due to the whole flexing in all of the layouts, when you add more than 6 steps on a 24" Monitor the space is already used completely. I think using overflow in this layout to make it scrollable would make this a much more versatile solution.
Surely, there's still the possibility to use the vertical layout but in some situations this is not very suitable. For example when you have rather large content behind each step. The user may loose focus because he can't see directly where his current position in the process is.
