Scribe v1.2.0 - Cross-Platform Enhancements & New Features
We are excited to announce Scribe version 1.2.0, focusing on expanding cross-platform capabilities and enhancing user interaction!
In this update, we've implemented significant changes that not only improve application stability and flexibility but also lay the groundwork for future
cross-platform functionalities.
Key Changes:
- Expanded Cross-Platform Support:
- Linux Support: Scribe now officially supports Linux operating systems (currently limited to the X11 graphical interface; Wayland is not yet
supported). - Revised Hotkey Registration Method: We have transitioned from the
keyboardpackage to the cross-platformpynputfor global hotkey registration
ensuring more reliable operation across different operating systems. - Improved Text Input Methods: Both character-by-character text input and clipboard paste methods have been refactored for cross-platform
compatibility, significantly improving interaction with other applications.

- Installed Applications Analysis:
installed-apps-scannerIntegration: To interact more effectively with the user's software, we have integrated our cross-platform
installed-apps-scannerpackage (available on PyPI). This will allow Scribe to better adapt to your worki
environment and, in future versions, offer more intelligent features.
Note for Linux Users:
Please be aware that current Linux support is limited to systems using X11 as the graphical interface. We are actively working towards full Wayland
compatibility in future updates.

- Enhanced UI Feedback During Loading: To make the model switching process clearer, several UI improvements have been added:
* The tray icon now displays a loading indicator (...) and a tooltip that reads "Loading model, please wait...".
* Main and Settings windows are temporarily hidden during the switch to prevent interaction and are restored to their previous state
afterward.
* Most tray menu items are disabled during the loading process to prevent conflicts.
* Left-clicking the tray icon is temporarily disabled.- Hotkey Safety: Global hotkeys (for starting/stopping modes, etc.) are now temporarily disabled while a model is being loaded,
preventing unexpected behavior. - Developer Workflow: A Git pre-push hook has been added. It automatically runs ruff check . to ensure code quality before any changes
are pushed to the repository.
