Ingest Participatory Grantmaking During Polycrisis - #38
Merged
Conversation
New concept page on participatory grantmaking: the model, what crisis does to a practice built on time, and the test that keeps it a redistribution of power rather than a procedure. Ecosystem gains eight funders and networks the wiki had none of -- Rawa, Dalan Fund, Global Resilience Fund, Purposeful, Women Win, MADRE, Mama Cash, and the Participatory Grantmaking Community. Library gains the webinar. Two contested figures were left out rather than picked: PGM's own site and homepage disagree on membership, and the founding-advisory count appears only in the talk. The moderator's name is spelled Gervis in the publisher's video description and Jervis on PGM's who-we-are page; the organisation's own page wins. Backlog of unwritten items in #37.

What this adds
concepts/participatory-grantmaking— new. Grant funds where the communities being served hold the decision, and what happens to a practice built on time when crisis removes the time. Covers the three funds' models, the crisis findings (speed as a property of prepared trust rather than of skipping participation, smaller money as safer money, fiscal hosts as alternative infrastructure, funder symbiosis), and the political test: participation that becomes a fixed series of steps has been depoliticised.ecosystem/overview— eight organisations the wiki had none of. Rawa, Dalan Fund, Global Resilience Fund, Purposeful, Women Win, MADRE and Mama Cash under Funders & foundations; the Participatory Grantmaking Community under Networks & communities.library/reading-and-sources— the webinar, on the Self-governance & democratic culture shelf.Wired into the sidebar under Concepts → Self-governance & power, mirrored on the Concepts overview. Build passes: 141 pages, all internal links valid.
What was left out, and why
Rather than hedged or guessed:
Women Win as Dalan's fiscal host appears only in the talk and is corroborated only indirectly, so it is attributed to the talk rather than stated flatly.
Names
Every speaker name was checked against the publisher's own video description. Three matched. The fourth did not: the description spells the moderator Gervis, PGM's who-we-are page spells her Jervis. The organisation's own page was taken as authoritative.
Worth stating plainly, because auto-transcripts garble names and this page carries four of them.
Provenance
Fetched, transcribed, extracted and initially drafted by a non-Claude agent following
docs/processing-sources.md, as a test of whether that document is sufficient for an outside tool. It was — the extraction separated site-verified facts from talk-only claims and wrote its own omissions list. Completed, name-verified and wired up here. One correction fed back into the guide from the same run: scenius-digest 0607cdc — resolve metadata-poor candidates before bucketing them.
