How do I update safely?

I want to update HyDE, but I want to keep all my settings and themes, how do I do it safely without errors and problems?

You can't, hyprland now breaks the old config. and there is no transpiler.

What steps should I take?

If you had modified the default keybinds and window rules, you might need to do the same modification again after updating. But the configs will be in lua.
All other configs after every update are stored inside ~/.config/cfg_backups so search by date before update and compare the configs. Its nothing serious.

To update, I'd recommend to just use uninstall.sh first then use install.sh without any flags. But that may completely break the whole setup for a while, also its just my personal opinion. You can just use normal update method too.

After updating, a few things will appear to be broken, but are nothing serious.
look at #1983 on how to fix those. also, if the corners of the window appear to be not rounded (square shaped) just change theme a few times, and it will resolve itself.

If there is nothing else, close the issue (i am not a contributor, dont take my words at face value and always check for yourself 😄)
