fix(migration): move aside Waybar modules left over from Hyprdots - #2208
Conversation
Hyprdots kept its Waybar modules as bare fragments for its config generator to paste together. HyDE includes every file in ~/.config/waybar/modules/ as a document of its own and never touches that directory, so after installing on top of Hyprdots Waybar reads a fragment as a string and aborts with "Json::Value::resolveReference(key, end): requires objectValue". The migration moves every module there that Waybar cannot load to a backup, so HyDE's own modules take their place. Modules that load are left alone. Fixes HyDE-Project#1992

Reject symlink destinations before removing the source.
If dst is a symlink to src, -f passes and cmp -s reports identical contents. rm -f "${src}" then removes the only copy of the module and leaves a dangling backup symlink. Check -L "${dst}" before the identical-backup branch so the existing collision branch preserves the source. (pubs.opengroup.org)

Fixes #1992.
After installing HyDE on top of Hyprdots, Waybar never starts and fails with
Json::Value::resolveReference(key, end): requires objectValue. Hyprdots kept its modules in~/.config/waybar/modules/as bare fragments ("cpu": { ... },) that its config generator pasted together into one object. HyDE includes every*json*file in that directory as a document of its own, and the installer never touches it, so the fragments survive the install. Waybar's parser stops after the first complete value, reads the fragment as the string"cpu", and aborts when it looks up that value'sincludekey. The new
v26.10.1migration moves every module in that directory that Waybar can't load to~/.local/state/hyde/migration/v26.10.1/waybar/modules/, and HyDE's own modules in$XDG_DATA_HOME/waybar/modules/take their place. A file is moved only when one of these is true, and each one aborts Waybar:${...}placeholder outside a string (Hyprdots'header.jsonc)Modules that load are left alone, including
${...}inside strings and comments, a byte order mark, and trailing commas. Nothing is deleted. A leftover that comes back identical to its backup is removed, and a different one never overwrites the backup.I checked the rule against jsoncpp (the parser Waybar uses) on 393 files: Hyprdots' modules, every module and layout HyDE ships, and older HyDE module files from git history. Nothing that loads was moved, and all 31 Hyprdots modules were.
Tests: HyDE-Project/tests#45,
test_waybar_hyprdots_modules.sh, which fails on currentdevand passes with this branch.Summary by CodeRabbit
