Description

The CuTe DSL persistent tile scheduler rounds the tile grid up to the cluster shape. In the DenseGEMM MoE kernels that
gives a CTA an M tile past the last token (the peer CTA of a 2-CTA or cluster-M pair, even for one token) or an N tile
past the last column (a cluster N larger than the N tile count). TMA loads and stores clip on such tiles. Four direct
global accesses did not:

  1. FC2 alpha loads. The alpha-load warp predicated each per-token alpha row on 32 * iter + lane < num_tokens, the
    row within the tile. A tile that starts past row 0 loaded rows past the end of the (num_tokens, num_experts) alpha
    tensor: with one token and a 2-CTA tactic, the peer CTA reads alpha row 128.
  2. FC2 split-K atomics. The split-K epilogue bounded its atomic adds by M (thread_in_bounds) but not by N. An N
    tile past the last column added its zero partial sums into the next token's row, or past the end of C for the last
    token.
  3. FC1 per-expert accesses. FC1 read the per-expert alpha at index num_experts and the per-token alpha_post, and
    wrote its scale factors, for N tiles past the last expert. It already guards the M side; this adds the N side.
  4. FC2 swap_ab split-K atomics. The swap_ab split-K epilogue bounded its atomic adds by the token count. With
    swap_ab, M is the hidden size and N the tokens, so rows of C past the token count got no contribution, and token
    columns past the last token (a partial last N tile or a cluster-padded one) added past the end of C. Only
    run_moe_as_dense_gemm_fc2.py --swap_ab --split_k N reaches this path: the production FC2 runner never sets
    swap_ab.

Impact:

  • The FC2 accesses (1, 2) and FC1's alpha reads (3) read or add padding, so they do not change outputs. They fault
    only when a stray access lands in an unmapped page, which depends on where the caching allocator puts the small
    alpha and output tensors. Run as one process with asynchronous launches, test_moe_backend.py hits an illegal memory
    access in a DENSEGEMM NVFP4 case in about one run in four to seven, while every per-backend selection passes.
  • FC1's scale-factor store (3) did change outputs. In the SF layout ((32, 4, rest_m), (16, 4, rest_n), l) rest-N is
    the inner mode, so the store of a padded N tile (N block >= rest_n) at M block i landed in the 512-byte SF block
    of M block i + 1, N block s:
    • With more than 128 tokens it overwrote valid FC1 output scale factors of the next 128 tokens with 0 (from the zero
      accumulators), or NaN if the out-of-range alpha read returned Inf/NaN. When the padded cluster runs after the valid
      one, as it usually does with more than one persistent wave, those tokens' FC1 activations dequantize to 0.
      compute-sanitizer does not see this, because the write stays inside the c_sf allocation.
    • For the last 128-token block it wrote past the end of c_sf.
    • It is reached when experts x (2 x intermediate / TP) / tile_N is not a multiple of the tuned cluster N. For
      example, 7 experts, intermediate 768, TP1 and tactic ((128, 256), (1, 4)) give 42 N tiles: tiles 42 and 43 are
      padded and overwrite the scale factors of tokens 128-255 in FC1 columns 0-255. Released models whose expert count
      is divisible by 4 do not reach it.
  • (4) gave wrong FC2 results on the swap_ab split-K path of the microbenchmark.

GPU core dumps of two test_moe_backend.py faults place them on two instructions:

  • FC2's alpha load (LDGSTS by the alpha-load warp of the peer CTA in a (2, 1) cluster);
  • with only fix 1 applied, the split-K atomic add (REDG.E.ADD.BF16x8 by a CTA past the last N tile of a (1, 4)
    cluster).

The fix:

  • FC2's alpha-load bound adds the tile's first row.
  • FC2's atomic adds stop at the last column, and the swap_ab split-K atomics are bounded by C's rows and columns.
  • FC1 clamps the per-expert alpha index to the last expert, and skips the per-token alpha read and the scale-factor
    store past it.

Two other CuTe DSL kernels had the same unguarded scale-factor store, and are fixed here too. Each stored scale
factors for N tiles past the last column, overwriting the next 128 rows' scale factors, or writing past the end of
the buffer for the last block:

  • dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py, used by the fp4-out SwiGLU and GELU MLP runners. It is reached by a
    cluster-N-2 tactic with an odd N tile count, or by a partial last N tile. The runners pad the SF buffer only in M,
    so M-padded tiles also stored past the SF tensor.
  • blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py, the CuteDSL NVFP4 MoE FC1. It is reached by MMA N 256
    when the intermediate size per partition is an odd multiple of 64 (e.g. 768 at MoE TP 4), which leaves the last
    N tile partial. Its M tiles stay inside the allocated rows.

Both now skip a scale-factor store whose block lies outside the SF tensor.

Test Coverage

New test: tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py::test_nvfp4_dense_gemm_swiglu_cluster_padded_n_tiles
runs FC1 on 7 experts x 1536 columns at 1024 tokens with cluster N 4, which pads two N tiles, and requires outputs and
scale factors byte-identical to cluster N 2, which pads none. With the original FC1 kernel it fails: 14,336
scale-factor bytes differ, in the 128-token blocks after the first.

The two other kernels were checked on GB300 the same way, without adding tests to the PR:

  • fp4-out SwiGLU at 2048 x 39*128, cluster N 2 (one padded N tile) against cluster N 1;
  • the MoE gather kernel at 4 experts x 1024 tokens, intermediate 10304, MMA N 256 (partial last N tile)
    against MMA N 128.

Both give byte-identical outputs and scale factors with the guards. With the original kernels, 15,360 and 3,072
scale-factor bytes differ.

On GB300, compute-sanitizer --tool memcheck with PYTORCH_NO_CUDA_MEMORY_CACHING=1 reports 0 errors for:

  • Every FC2 tactic (all cluster shapes, split-K 1/2/4) at 1, 8, 127, 128, 129, 200, 256 and 300 tokens: 624 cases, all
    matching the reference. On the original kernel it reports the out-of-bounds alpha reads (cluster (2, 1)) and atomic
    adds (clusters (1, 2) and (1, 4)).
  • Every FC1 tactic on shapes whose N tiles run past the last expert (3 and 5 experts): 112 cases. On the original kernel
    it reports the reads past the last expert's alpha.
  • tests/unittest/_torch/moe/test_moe_backend.py -k DENSEGEMM. On the original kernels it reports errors in the first
    case.

Other tests:

  • tests/microbenchmarks/cute_dsl_kernels/moe_as_dense_gemm/run_moe_as_dense_gemm_fc2.py --swap_ab --split_k 2
    matches its reference with a partial last N tile (200 tokens) and a cluster-padded one (100 tokens, cluster (1, 2));
    without the swap_ab bound both fail it, with 80% and 91% of C mismatched.
  • tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py passes (565).
  • tests/unittest/_torch/kernels/parallel/test_dense_gemm_act_fusion.py passes (60), and so do the
    test_nvfp4_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion_blackwell cases of test_cute_dsl_moe.py (216).
  • The whole test_moe_backend.py with asynchronous launches: 9 of 9 runs pass. On the original kernels 1 of 7 runs
    faulted, and with only fix 1, 1 of 4.

Dev Engineer Review

  • FC1 clamps pre-SwiGLU alpha lookups to the last expert. It skips post-SwiGLU alpha reads and scale-factor stores for tiles beyond the last expert.
  • FC2 checks alpha loads against the global token-row offset. Split-K atomic paths check output row and column bounds before accessing memory.
  • The CuTe DSL scale-factor stores now skip out-of-range N subtiles. Public APIs remain unchanged.
  • These changes target out-of-bounds accesses on cluster-padded tiles. Review finding counts are unavailable.

QA Engineer Review

  • Three tests were added: regression coverage for dense MoE GEMM output and scale-factor equality, dense GEMM activation output and scale-factor equality, and gather/grouped GEMM output and scale-factor equality for a partial N tile.
  • The returned test-list search found no entries for these new test cases. It found an existing, different test_cute_dsl_moe.py test in test-db/l0_b200.yml.
  • The PR objectives report successful memcheck and functional test runs. These results are author-reported. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up.

Per-File QA Perspective

  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/moe/kernels/blackwell/moe_as_dense_gemm/fc1.py: Verify padded expert tiles skip invalid alpha reads and scale-factor stores, while valid tiles retain expected behavior.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/moe/kernels/blackwell/moe_as_dense_gemm/fc2.py: Verify alpha loads use global token-row bounds and split-K atomics stay within output dimensions.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/kernels/blackwell/dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py: Verify out-of-range SFC M or N subtiles skip the global store and valid subtiles still store scale factors.
  • tensorrt_llm/_torch/moe/kernels/blackwell/blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py: Verify out-of-range SFC N subtiles skip the global store and valid subtiles retain the expected scale factors.
  • tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py: Adds Blackwell regression coverage for output and scale-factor equality across tactics with and without cluster-padded N tiles. The new test’s CI or manual-QA list membership was not found.
  • tests/unittest/_torch/kernels/parallel/test_dense_gemm_act_fusion.py: Adds Blackwell regression coverage for output and scale-factor equality when cluster N pads beyond the output tiles. The new test’s CI or manual-QA list membership was not found.
  • tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_cute_dsl_moe.py: Adds SM100/103 CuTe DSL coverage for output and scale-factor equality on a partial N tile. The test-list search found a different test from this file in test-db/l0_b200.yml, but did not find the new test there.

Explanation

The title follows the repository template: a ticket field of [None] and the type [fix], followed by a summary. It names the main change, which is keeping FC1 and FC2 global memory accesses inside the problem bounds in the DenseGEMM MoE kernels. The changeset matches this: it adds bounds guards to FC1 and FC2 alpha loads, atomics, and scale-factor stores, and it adds guards to two CuTe DSL kernels as well.

Nitpick Test an alpha load on a later partial token tile.

1256-1257: Trivial · Stability & Availability · Heavy lift

Test an alpha load on a later partial token tile.

The direct FC2 test covers a partial first tile with 127 tokens, but not a later partial tile. With 129 tokens and a 128-row CTA tile, the former predicate can admit out-of-bounds loads on tile 1. Add that shape to tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py with a fixed tactic and a memcheck run, so the test fails if the global row base is omitted again. The alpha-load predicate must account for the global row base on later token
tiles. Add a direct FC2 regression case for 129 tokens with a 128-row CTA tile

would catch out-of-bounds alpha loads if the global row base is omitted.

Nitpick Test split-K atomics on a partial final output tile.

1918-1918: Trivial · Stability & Availability · Heavy lift

Test split-K atomics on a partial final output tile.

The direct FC2 test uses output widths of 256, 512, and 2048 and does not select split-K. It therefore does not reliably detect the out-of-width atomic write fixed here. Add a forced non-swap split-K case with a 256-column CTA tile and a 320-column output to tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py. Run the case under memcheck and compare the in-bounds result. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Nitpick Add a regression test for a padded FC1 expert tile.

1431-1432: Trivial · Stability & Availability · Heavy lift

Add a regression test for a padded FC1 expert tile.

The existing FC1 test checks output values, but it does not force a padded N tile and check its direct accesses under memcheck. A value-only check can pass even when the old alpha load, post-scale load, or SFC store accesses memory beyond the expert tensor. Add a case in tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py that fixes a tactic with more N-cluster tiles than the output needs, enables post-scaling and SFC generation, and runs under memcheck. …oblem

The persistent tile scheduler rounds the tile grid up to the cluster
shape, so a CTA can get an M tile past the last token (the peer of a
2-CTA or cluster-M pair) or an N tile past the last column (cluster N
larger than the N tile count). TMA loads and stores clip there; the
kernels' direct global accesses did not:
- FC2's alpha-load warp bounded each per-token alpha row by its row in
  the tile, so a tile starting past row 0 loaded rows past the end of
  the alpha tensor.
- FC2's split-K epilogue bounded its atomic adds by M but not N, so N
  tiles past the last column added zeros into the next token's row, or
  past the end of C for the last token.
- FC1 read the per-expert alpha and the per-token alpha_post, and wrote
  scale factors, for N tiles past the last expert.

The GEMM results stay right: those rows and columns are padding that
is zero or never stored. But the stray accesses touch memory outside
the tensors and fault when it is unmapped. That is the intermittent
illegal memory access in whole-file test_moe_backend.py runs (DENSEGEMM
NVFP4): it depends on where the caching allocator places the small alpha
and output tensors. FC2's alpha loads now add the tile's first row, its
atomics stop at the last column, and FC1 clamps the expert index and
skips the per-token alpha and scale-factor accesses past the last
expert, as it already does past the last token.

Test: compute-sanitizer memcheck without the caching allocator reports
no errors for every FC2 tactic (all cluster shapes, split-K 1/2/4) at
1 to 300 tokens (624 cases, all matching the reference), for every FC1
tactic on shapes whose N tiles run past the last expert (112 cases) and
for test_moe_backend.py -k DENSEGEMM; on the original kernels it reports
FC2's out-of-bounds alpha reads and atomic adds and FC1's alpha reads.
test_moe_densegemm.py passes. Whole-file test_moe_backend.py runs with
asynchronous launches: 9 of 9 pass; before, 1 of 7 faulted (GPU coredump
at FC2's alpha load), and with only the alpha fix 1 of 4 faulted (at the
split-K atomic add).

Thanks for the careful root-causing. The three guards look correct to me: they only act on cluster-padded tiles and leave every in-range row and column unchanged. Summary: 0 blockers, 1 possibly blocking, 2 required (two inline comments, one below). FYI, not blocking this PR: the same unguarded SFC store exists in tensorrt_llm/_torch/kernels/blackwell/dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py:1825, which has no M or N guard; the fp4out runners there offer cluster_n=2 but pad the SF buffer only in M. The CuteDSL MoE gather kernel has it too, at tensorrt_llm/_torch/moe/kernels/blackwell/blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py:2627 (# TODO: Need to think about predicate on it). Both are worth a follow-up bug.

  • [Required] Please file an NVBug for this illegal memory access and put it in the title instead of [None]. CONTRIBUTING.md asks for this: "For NVIDIA developers, please include the JIRA number or NVBUG ID in the PR title whenever possible". Please also plan the release/1.3 fix ("please submit feature or bug fixes to the dedicated branch specified in the nvbug Keywords field"). release/1.3 ships the same DENSEGEMM backend (moe_config.backend: DENSEGEMM, llm_args.py:1653 on that branch) with the same tactic lists, and has the identical unguarded accesses in tensorrt_llm/_torch/cute_dsl_kernels/blackwell/moe_as_dense_gemm/:

    • fc2.py:1254: alpha predicate on the row within the tile;
    • fc2.py:1914: split-K atomics with no column bound;
    • fc1.py:1427 and :1806: unclamped alpha index;
    • fc1.py:1706-1707: SFC store guarded only by M.

    Production hits these, for example, on decode batches of <=128 tokens with a ((256,128),(2,1)) FC2 tactic, where the peer CTA reads alpha rows 128 and up, and on split-K FC2 with a hidden size that is not a multiple of tile_N x cluster_N (e.g. 2880). These are the same intermittent IMAs this PR fixes on main.

…st padded FC1 N tiles

FC2's swap_ab split-K epilogue bounded its atomic adds by the token count.
With swap_ab, M is the hidden size and N the tokens, so rows of C past the
token count got no contribution, and token columns past the last token (a
partial last N tile or a cluster-padded one) added past the end of C. Bound
rows and columns by C itself. Only the FC2 microbenchmark reaches this path;
the production FC2 runner never sets swap_ab.

Add a regression test for FC1's scale-factor store on cluster-padded N tiles.
Before this PR that store overwrote the next 128 tokens' scale factors. The
test runs FC1 on 7 experts x 1536 columns at 1024 tokens, and requires
byte-identical outputs and scale factors with cluster N 4 (two padded N tiles)
and cluster N 2 (none).

Test: on GB300 with main's Python and this PR's kernels:
- the new test passes; with main's fc1.py it fails (14,336 scale-factor
  bytes differ);
- run_moe_as_dense_gemm_fc2.py --swap_ab --split_k 2 matches its reference
  with a partial (200 tokens) and a cluster-padded (100 tokens) last N tile;
  without the bound, 80% and 91% of C mismatch;
- test_moe_densegemm.py passes (565).

Nitpick Run the padded-N case under memcheck in the CI stage that runs this test.

276-277: 🩺 Stability & Availability | 🔵 Trivial | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Run the padded-N case under memcheck in the CI stage that runs this test.

The byte assertions at test_moe_densegemm.py:276-277 compare only padded_c and padded_sf. The alpha_post load in fc1.py:1621-1624 is guarded only by expert_idx < num_experts. If that guard regresses, the load can read out of bounds on a padded tile. That read may not change the compared bytes, so these assertions may not detect the regression. No compute-sanitizer run covers this case in the repository.

Add a memcheck run that exits nonzero on sanitizer errors. The test runs only on SM 100 or SM 103:

PYTORCH_NO_CUDA_MEMORY_CACHING=1 compute-sanitizer --tool memcheck --error-exitcode 1 \
  python -m pytest tests/unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel/test_moe_densegemm.py \
  -k test_nvfp4_dense_gemm_swiglu_cluster_padded_n_tiles

Add this command to the CI stage that runs this test. The tests/integration/test_lists/test-db/ files only select pytest test IDs, so they do not define the sanitizer stage.

Nitpick Add deterministic non-swap split-K coverage.

1919-1934: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Add deterministic non-swap split-K coverage.

Use the existing num_expert=4, weight_per_expert=512, N=256 case with tactic ((128, 128), (1, 4), 2). Invoke the FC2 runner directly or use run_moe_as_dense_gemm_fc2.py with split_k=2 and without --swap_ab. Compare the output with the reference and run the case under compute-sanitizer --tool memcheck.

The current unit test calls the public custom operation, which does not accept a tactic. Auto-tuning can therefore select split_k=1, allowing a broken non-swap column guard to pass unchanged.

…st the last column

Two more kernels store NVFP4 output scale factors for N tiles that run
past the last column. In the SF layout rest-N is the inner mode, so such a
store at M block i lands in the SF block of M block i+1: it overwrites the
next 128 rows' scale factors, or writes past the end of the buffer for the
last block.
- dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py (fp4-out SwiGLU/GELU runners): a
  cluster-N-2 tactic with an odd N tile count, or a partial last N tile.
  The runners pad the SF buffer only in M, so M-padded tiles also stored
  past the SF tensor.
- blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py (CuteDSL NVFP4
  MoE FC1): MMA N 256 when the intermediate size per partition is an odd
  multiple of 64 (e.g. 768 at MoE TP 4), so the last N tile is partial.
  Its M tiles stay inside the allocated rows.
Both now skip the store when its SF block is outside the SF tensor, as
the DenseGEMM FC1 kernel does.

Tests: each kernel gets a test that requires byte-identical outputs and
scale factors from a tactic with padded or partial N tiles and one without.
- test_dense_gemm_swiglu_fp4out_cluster_padded_n_tiles: 2048 x 39*128,
  cluster N 2 vs 1.
- test_nvfp4_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion_partial_n_tile: 4 experts x
  1024 tokens, intermediate size 10304, MMA N 256 vs 128.

Test: on GB300 with main's Python and this PR's kernels:
- both tests pass; with main's kernels they fail, with 15,360 and 3,072
  scale-factor bytes differing;
- test_dense_gemm_act_fusion.py and the gather-kernel cases of
  test_cute_dsl_moe.py pass (60 and 216).

Nitpick Exercise the M-tail SFC guard with a physical-padding canary.

1826-1826: Trivial · Stability & Availability · Quick win

Exercise the M-tail SFC guard with a physical-padding canary.

Use m=384 with tactic ((128, 256), (2, 1), False). The final partial M cluster can produce SFC subtile index 3, while the SFC mode-3 extent is 3. The guard at dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py:1826 prevents that store. The current test uses cluster M=1 and does not reach this case.

The current runner trims the internally allocated SFC buffer before returning it. Therefore, a canary after the logical buffer and a logical-output comparison can both miss removal of the guard. Add a low-level fixture that preinitializes the physical SFC padding, invokes the existing wrapper_fp4out path, and checks that the canary remains unchanged while valid scale factors match the reference.

This branch already carried PR NVIDIA#21401's first DenseGEMM fix. Bring it to

Re-review at 8574832. Since my approval at 5cd8123 the PR adds three things: the swap_ab split-K bound, the scale-factor store guards in dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py and the CuteDSL MoE gather kernel, and the FC1 padded-N-tile test. The new guards look correct to me:

  • Each skips only stores that fall outside C or the SF tensor, and indexes in the same units as the subtile index, so every in-range row, column and SF block is written as before.
  • The gather kernel needs no M guard: M tiles are bounded by m % tile_size == 0 and cluster (tile_size // 128, 1), and c_sf holds exactly m/128 SF row blocks.
  • The new test fails on the old fc1.py (7 x 2 x 1 KiB = 14,336 bytes) and runs pre-merge on B200, B300 and GB300 through unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel.

Summary: 0 blockers, 0 possibly blocking, 4 required. All four are below, with no inline comments. CI on 8574832 (L0_MergeRequest_PR #67891) was still running when I reviewed.

Earlier points:

  • Resolved (earlier possibly-blocking point, swap_ab split-K atomics with no column bound and the wrong row extent): fc2.py:1871-1872 now bounds rows and columns by mC_raw, which is (hidden, tokens) and M-major with swap_ab.
  • Resolved (earlier required point, the Description said the stray accesses never changed outputs): the Description now explains the FC1 scale-factor overwrite and which configurations reach it, and test_moe_densegemm.py:244 covers it.
  • [Required] Still applies (earlier point): please file an NVBug, put it in the title instead of [None], and plan the release/1.3 fix.
    • CONTRIBUTING.md:91: "For NVIDIA developers, please include the JIRA number or NVBUG ID in the PR title whenever possible". CONTRIBUTING.md:114 asks to submit bug fixes to the branch named in the nvbug Keywords field.
    • release/1.3 still has the unguarded FC1/FC2 accesses in tensorrt_llm/_torch/cute_dsl_kernels/blackwell/moe_as_dense_gemm/: fc2.py:1254 and :1914; fc1.py:1427, :1707 and :1806.
    • It also has the two scale-factor stores this PR now guards: cute_dsl_kernels/blackwell/blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py:2626 and dense_blockscaled_gemm_act_fusion.py:1825.

New:

  • [Required] The Description's reach for the gather kernel is incomplete.
    • "It is reached by MMA N 256 when the intermediate size per partition is an odd multiple of 64" holds only for gated activations.
    • For non-gated ones (Relu2) the C tile N is the full MMA N (blockscaled_contiguous_gather_grouped_gemm_act_fusion.py:545), so the last N tile is partial whenever the 128-padded intermediate size per partition is not a multiple of 256. The padding is NVFP4_ROW_ALIGNMENT in quantization.py:3276/3290, inherited by NVFP4CuteDslFusedMoEMethod at :3786.
    • Nemotron-3 Nano NVFP4 on the CUTEDSL MoE backend is such a case: intermediate 1856 is padded to 1920 (test_moe_backend.py:6348-6350), Relu2 goes through this kernel (cutedsl/grouped_gemm/nvfp4.py:441), and (tile_size, 256) is a candidate tactic (cute_dsl_custom_ops.py:4205).
    • With 1920 columns, SF blocks 30-31 of the last tile used to land on SF blocks 0-1 of the next 128 tokens, i.e. their FC1 columns 0-127. 1920 is an even multiple of 64, so the stated condition misses it.
    • The new guard covers this case. Please add it to the Description, and to the NVBug and release/1.3 scope.
  • [Required] The CodeRabbit block at the end of the Description ("QA Engineer Review", "Per-File QA Perspective") still describes 805192d.
    • It says "Three tests were added" and has per-file entries for test_dense_gemm_act_fusion.py and test_cute_dsl_moe.py, whose tests 8574832 removed.
    • It says the new test's CI list membership was not found. In fact it runs through unittest/_torch/moe/kernels/parallel in l0_b200.yml:331, l0_b300.yml:52 and l0_gb300.yml:69.
    • The PR template asks "If using CodeRabbit's summary, please make sure it makes sense". Please regenerate or drop that block.
  • [Required] +1 to coderabbitai's thread on fc2.py:1872, which was resolved without a change.
    • The new row bound m_global + 7 < mC_raw.shape[0] skips a whole 8-row group. With FP32 C and M % 8 == 4, the last 4 rows of C get no atomic adds and stay 0.
    • can_implement accepts that shape: it only requires M % 4 == 0 for M-major FP32 C (fc2.py:2529-2538).
    • Nothing reaches it today: the production FC2 runner never sets swap_ab, and the microbenchmark marks C's M mode divisible by 32.
    • Please either issue scalar atomics for the in-range rows of a partial group, or reject swap_ab with split_k > 1 unless M % 8 == 0.
