This model is used to estimate the budgetary effects of temporary payment increases in the Medicare physician fee schedule (MPFS), relative to CBO’s February 2026 baseline projections.
The model was created in Microsoft Excel. The data, logic, and documentation for the model are contained in a single file, which you can download here: MPFS-payment-increase-model.xlsx. After downloading the model, you can find it in your Downloads/ directory and open it. The first worksheet in the workbook contains a more detailed README with instructions on how to use the model.
The Medicare physician fee schedule payment increase model was developed by Sarah Sajewski, Julia Sheriff, and Katherine Kim.
