Rewrites the README landing page for scannability and adds contributor docs. PR 2 of a docs cleanup (PR 1: #80). Independent of #80; no shared files.

README

Before After
One ~100-word intro sentence listing every feature Two-sentence pitch + three bullets (plain Go, scales out, slow work)
Features section repeating the intro, 2–4 lines each "What You Get", one short item each, each linking its guide
Documentation section duplicating docs/README.md Four entry points ("New here?", "Doing a task?", …) into the docs index
Separate "Relationship To Vercel Chat SDK" and "Non-Goals" One "Scope" section
Hardcoded "current release is v0.2.0" Removed; the release badge already shows it
No contributor guidance Contributing section → new CONTRIBUTING.md

Unchanged: badges, the compile-checked hello-world program, Install, and the adapter tier table (wording tightened). The pinned phrase "not a TypeScript API port" is kept for documentation_test.go.

CONTRIBUTING.md (new)

Setup (mise, Docker for Testcontainers), module layout and go.work, the CI commands (mise run vet, mise run test with -race) plus narrower tasks, the example go mod tidy rule for state-module bumps, what documentation_test.go checks, a live-validation checklist (moved from the Linear example README in #82), and ADR expectations. Linked from the README and from docs/README.md.

Not included

  • No LICENSE section: the repository has no LICENSE file, so pkg.go.dev currently shows "Documentation not displayed due to license restrictions." Picking a license is an owner decision and is left out of this PR.

Validation

  • go test -run 'Documentation|README|Snippets' . passes (README hello-world still builds; pinned phrases present).
  • Relative-link and anchor check over all user-facing Markdown: 0 broken (39 files).
  • git diff --check clean.

Replace the single ~100-word intro sentence with a two-sentence pitch and
three bullets, trim the feature list to one line per item, shorten the
documentation section to entry points into docs/README.md, merge the
Vercel relationship and non-goals into one Scope section, drop the
hardcoded release number (the badge shows it), and link a new
CONTRIBUTING.md covering setup, repository layout, mise tasks, the
documentation tests, and ADR expectations.

The hello-world program is unchanged and still compile-checked; the
pinned "not a TypeScript API port" phrase is kept.

Your team has set up Codex to review pull requests in this repo. Reviews are triggered when you

  • Open a pull request for review
  • Mark a draft as ready

Codex reacts with 👀 while any review is running, comments if it has suggestions, and reacts with 👍 once all reviews finish with no findings.

Moves the Linear example's maintainer-only dogfooding checklist into
contributor docs (removed from the example README in #82).

Rendered-docs evidence (GitHub preview of the branch; documentation check only, not a live Slack/Linear run). Captured at head 1d9b025; the later commit f092f8a changes one README bullet.
