🤖 tests: remoteConnection.spec.ts popup clipboard write is denied on Linux E2E (flaky) #5993

Description

@ThomasK33

tests/e2e/scenarios/remoteConnection.spec.ts:284 ("remote app popups and blob attachments retain isolation and close on disconnect") failed twice on 2026-10-09 in Test / E2E (linux 2/4), on PRs that touch no clipboard, remote-connection or Electron code. Both times it failed on its Playwright retry too, and a job rerun passed.

Failure

The remote app popup's navigator.clipboard.writeText is rejected, so the page shows the error text instead of "Copied":

Error: expect(locator).toHaveText(expected) failed
Received: "NotAllowedError: Failed to execute 'writeText' on 'Clipboard': Write permission denied."
> 340 |     await expect(popup.locator("#copied")).toHaveText("Copied");

Sightings

  1. 🤖 fix: light-theme muted and secondary text tokens meet WCAG AA #5973, attempt 1: https://github.com/coder/xum/actions/runs/37994477974/job/114036957884. The same job also failed remoteConnection.spec.ts:84 ("remote connection isolates the page and returns to the same local renderer"). Attempt 2 passed.
  2. 🤖 fix: allow zoom, and keep phone text fields at 16 px so iOS does not zoom on focus #5992, attempt 1: https://github.com/coder/xum/actions/runs/38006342745/job/114075947944. 17 other tests passed. The rerun of the failed jobs passed.

Next step

Find why the popup sometimes lacks clipboard-write permission on the Linux runner, for example a focus or permission race when the popup opens. Until then the spec is a known flake: rerun the failed job once.

    Another occurrence, in the merge queue: #6031 was removed with failed_checks.

    This makes the flake a merge-queue blocker, not just PR noise. I re-enqueued #6031 once.
