Remaining wrinkles with the custom item plugins post-alpha.1 #2145
Hi @ml-evs, just adding here some links to three other issues related to the addition of the custom items and UI. I already opened the associated PR for the first two with suggested fix. For the third on relationships, this requires more discussion I think!
Regarding "Specifying which custom items should appear in which tables in the UI (or need their own table)", currently it will only appear in the samples table. I think it will be nice to be able to customize this and allow for specific tables. #2168 is a step into this direction. Currently this PR handles the possibility to customize existing views (i.e. change the order, labels, hide some).
In a second PR I would like to add the possibility to have custom views of two types (complete custom views and item-table views).
The complete custom views would allow to have "any" kind of view as a tab using a custom vue file.
The item-table view would be a "helper" to have a custom table view for specific item type(s) so you don't need to make a custom vue file. You would just define, e.g. that one tab in the navigation bar would be an item-table type of tab with predefined item (builtin or custom) types (e.g. a data table showing "solutions" and "mixed_solutions" custom types, provided these types exist of course)
I think this would be flexible enough to cover most (if not all) cases we can imagine. What do you think ?
This issue can be used to track the addition of custom items and UIs in #1821 & #2073, especially things that should be set in stone before release.
invoke dev.installshould also pull in vue panels -- also panels may need to be symlinked in dev mode/itemsendpoint that pulls summary fields from multiple selectable types
