It's important to either merge this PR or pin requirements to pypdf2<3.0 because fresh installs of stapler are currently broken. |

Perhaps someone can fork this project and maintain it. A simple merge request has not been responded to for almost 2.25 years. |

This is not ideal, but if no one steps up, I can own/maintain, but not contribute, since I do not know the internals of the project: I am just an end user. Perhaps we can try it and see, at least these patches can be taken care of. |
