Read KV entries removed by the server as deletes, not live puts - #185
Conversation
When a key expires by max age or is removed, a 2.11+ server leaves a marker carrying Nats-Marker-Reason and no KV-Operation header. Only the unused parseEntry looked at that header; get(), watch() and history() went through parsers that checked KV-Operation alone, so an expired key came back from get() as a live PUT instead of KeyNotFound. Both live parsers now share one entryOperation helper that maps marker reasons the way nats.go does (MaxAge and Purge to PURGE, Remove to DEL), and the dead parseEntry is gone.

Both JetStream and stored-message parsing use the helper. The unused timestamp parser and its import were removed. ChangesKV Marker Parsing

Fixes #163.
When a key expires by max age or is removed, a 2.11+ server leaves a marker message that carries
Nats-Marker-Reasonand noKV-Operationheader. OnlyKV.parseEntrylooked at that header, and nothing called it.get(),watch()andhistory()go throughparseMessageandparseJetStreamMessage, which only checkedKV-Operation. So an expired key came back fromget()as a livePUTwith an empty value instead ofKeyNotFound, and watchers saw it as a put. Both live parsers now use one
entryOperationhelper that maps marker reasons the way nats.go does (jetstream/kv.go, in both its get and watch paths):MaxAgeandPurgebecomePURGE,RemovebecomesDEL, andKV-Operationtakes precedence when present. The deadparseEntryis deleted, so the file has one place that decides what a stored message means instead of three.Testing
nats:2.10-alpine, and the server only writes these markers from 2.11 on. I wrote one (bucket with a 1s max age andlimit_marker_ttl), and on 2.10 the expired key leaves no marker at all, so it cannot exercise this path. Covering it end to end needs the test server upgraded, which is a separate change../check.shpasses.
