The python:3.10-slim base image ships with an old pip (23.0.1) that doesn't include setuptools. The setuptools_scm build dependency imports pkg_resources from setuptools, causing a ModuleNotFoundError. https://claude.ai/code/session_01YWwHVNCxDxmmiCT9Gmjuop
setuptools_scm >= 2.0.0, <3 imports from pkg_resources, which is incompatible with setuptools >= 82.
