Firmware upgrade successful on RTL8761BU(0bda:876e), running Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS - Haven't run it for long yet, so it's still Hello World.
I'm interested how you fixed it? Been having this problem for ages on RTL8852BU (M.2 E Key module). Bought a new USB dongle, in the blind, and found out it was based of RTL8761BU. Kept crashing in the same way. Found your fix, and flashed it.
