The 'Open in a new tab?', execute (auto commit, auto rollback, server
cursor) and explain options chosen in a Query Tool tab are now saved with
the rest of the tab's state and put back when the tab is restored. The
execute options are sent to the server once the restored tab's
transaction has been created, since it starts with the preference values;
they are not restored for View/Edit Data tabs, where setting them would
promote the tab to a Query Tool.

Closes #9603

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Query tool toolbar settings are saved and restored when reopening a query, including applicable execution options.
    • View/Edit Data transactions retain their existing execution settings during restoration.
    • Toolbar changes are saved with query tool data when saving is enabled.
    • Execution-option changes made before a connection is available are applied once the connection is established.

Walkthrough

Query Tool tabs now save toolbar options with editor state and restore eligible options when content is restored. MainToolBar applies changed execution options after a connection is established.

Changes

Per-tab toolbar state

Layer / File(s) Summary
Save and pass toolbar state
web/pgadmin/tools/sqleditor/static/js/components/QueryToolComponent.jsx, web/pgadmin/tools/sqleditor/static/js/components/QueryToolConstants.js, web/pgadmin/tools/sqleditor/static/js/components/sections/Query.jsx
The tab exposes toolbar options through its context and includes them in saved editor state. Content restoration fires RESTORE_TOOLBAR_OPTIONS when saved options are an object.
Restore toolbar and execution options
web/pgadmin/tools/sqleditor/static/js/components/sections/MainToolBar.jsx, web/regression/javascript/sqleditor/MainToolBarRestore.spec.js
MainToolBar filters saved values to known boolean options and excludes execution options for View/Edit Data. It applies changed execution settings after connection. If a post fails, it reverts the affected option and reports the API error. Tests cover filtering, state restoration, deferred updates, failure handling, and View/Edit Data.

After a relaunch, a query started immediately may briefly run with preference defaults instead of the restored execute options. This is an edge-case timing window, and the author is tracking it as a follow-up.

Rows limit and the end-of-line setting are deliberately not restored: rows limit only applies to View/Edit Data and restoring it would re-run the query, and end-of-line is a status-bar setting rather than one of the toolbar options this issue covers.

185-188: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Saved options can be stale after a menu click.

TRIGGER_SAVE_QUERY_TOOL_DATA fires synchronously from checkMenuClick. The checkedMenuItems state updater runs later. The effect that updates toolbarOptionsRef runs after the render. The save is debounced by 500 ms in Query.jsx, so the ref is normally current when the save runs. A slow render can still make the saved options lag by one toggle.

Fire the save event from the effect that updates toolbarOptionsRef. Skip the initial mount. This also removes the extra save call from the error path at Lines 235-237.
