fix(cursor): retain SDK failure codes and retryability - #30636
Cursor SDK exceptions carry a stable error code and isRetryable, but T3 wraps them in CursorAgentSdkRunnerError and loses both fields when creating a terminal failure. A NetworkError with connection_stalled and isRetryable: true becomes a transport failure with a null code and null retryability. Explicit false is lost too.
Change
Read code and retryability from a known runner wrapper's inner SDK error before normalizing the terminal failure. Apply the same metadata extraction to returned error objects when those fields are present; do not infer retryability from message text or invent it for the SDK's ordinary RunError, which only guarantees message and optional code. Existing failure redaction bounds the code.
This preserves metadata only; it does not start automatic retries or replay tool calls.
Scope and approval
A small focused obvious-bug fix: fields supplied by the SDK are dropped at T3's translation boundary. No contract, provider option, retry policy or client-specific path changes. The existing failure fields already reach every client and delegated run.
The search found related open #27185 (completed Cursor runs whose SDK wait hangs) and #23412 (checkpoint replay and output retention), but neither preserves this metadata. No exact open issue or PR was found for the mapping defect.
Verification
Extend the existing terminal-failure table with actual pinned-SDK NetworkError instances for both isRetryable: true and false. They drive the real adapter through the SDK-runner boundary. Both cases fail against upstream main because retryability is null, then pass with the fix, including the recovered inner error code. The same table also covers returned run errors with a string code and both boolean retryability values.
Docker, Node 26.12.1, pinned Cursor SDK 1.2.0, upstream base 567a105705bc.
vp run check:changed upstream/main --concurrency 2: passed format, lint, both knip passes, all 10 affected/dependent package typechecks, and 28 tests across the Cursor adapter, SDK runner and required agent-context check.
No interactive client or real provider requests were used. This is a server-only metadata correction.
Implemented with GPT-6.1 Sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Cursor terminal failures now retain SDK error codes and explicit retryability values. This is a metadata-only correction with existing redaction safeguards and no automatic retries or tool replay.

Walkthrough
The Cursor provider now extracts SDK code and retryability metadata from runner-error causes. It includes available values in run-result failures and caught errors. Adapter tests cover retryable and non-retryable failures.

Summary
Extract and propagate failure metadata packages/provider-cursor/src/server/CursorAgentSdk.ts, packages/provider-cursor/src/server/adapter.ts, packages/provider-cursor/src/server/adapter.test.ts
A helper extracts string code and boolean retryability values from runner-error causes. The adapter includes available metadata in run-result and caught failures. Tests cover retryable and non-retryable network failures and terminal failure metadata.
The change preserves supported Cursor SDK failure metadata across terminal failures and is ready to merge.

Cover metadata from a returned run error.
The current assertions cover only thrown NetworkError instances. No returned result.error contains both a string code and boolean isRetryable, so removing the result.error metadata spread would leave the tests passing. Extend the existing terminal-failure table with a returned error carrying both fields and assert the propagated code and retryable values.

Extend the existing terminal-failure test table with a returned `result.error`
containing a string `code` and boolean `isRetryable`, and assert that the
propagated failure metadata includes the corresponding `code` and `retryable`
values. Keep the existing thrown `NetworkError` coverage unchanged.

Addressed the returned-run-error coverage note. The existing terminal-failure table now includes returned errors with a string code and both isRetryable: true and false, and asserts the terminal code and retryability. The thrown NetworkError cases are unchanged. These are optional runtime fields; the pinned SDK's RunError type still only guarantees message/code.
