OSINT

A lightweight Node.js command-line tool for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) gathering.

Node.js License PRs Welcome

OSINT collects publicly available information about a target (username, email, domain, etc.) from open sources and presents the results in a clean, structured way. It is built for security researchers, penetration testers, and analysts who need a fast, scriptable reconnaissance helper.

⚠️ Heads up: This README was drafted from the repository name and stack only (the repo contents could not be read automatically). Replace the placeholders marked with <...> and adjust the feature list / commands to match what the tool actually does.

Table of Contents

Features

  • 🔎 Search public sources for a given target
  • 👤 Username / profile lookups across multiple platforms
  • 📧 Email and domain reconnaissance
  • 🧵 Concurrent requests for fast results
  • 📦 Structured output (JSON / plain text)
  • 🛠️ Simple, scriptable CLI interface

Edit this list so it reflects the actual capabilities of the tool.

Requirements

  • Node.js >= 16
  • npm (ships with Node.js) or yarn

Installation

Clone the repository and install dependencies:

git clone https://github.com/ramazan-taskin/OSINT.git
cd OSINT
npm install

(Optional) Link it globally so you can run it from anywhere:

npm link

Usage

node index.js <target> [options]

Replace index.js with the actual entry file if it differs.

Option Description
-t, --target Target to investigate (username/email/domain)
-o, --output Save results to a file
-f, --format Output format: json or text
-h, --help Show help
-v, --version Show version

Update the options table to match the flags your tool actually supports.

Examples

Look up a username:

node index.js johndoe

Investigate a domain and save the results as JSON:

node index.js example.com --format json --output results.json

Configuration

If the tool relies on API keys (e.g. for third-party data sources), store them in a .env file in the project root:

API_KEY=your_api_key_here

Make sure .env is listed in .gitignore so secrets are never committed.

Output

Results are printed to the terminal and can optionally be written to a file. Example JSON structure:

{
  "target": "example.com",
  "timestamp": "2026-06-05T12:00:00Z",
  "results": []
}

Roadmap

  • Add more data sources
  • Export to CSV / HTML report
  • Rate limiting and retry handling
  • Test coverage

Contributing

Contributions are welcome! To contribute:

  1. Fork the repository
  2. Create a feature branch (git checkout -b feature/my-feature)
  3. Commit your changes (git commit -m "Add my feature")
  4. Push to the branch (git push origin feature/my-feature)
  5. Open a Pull Request
