This directory contains the dotfiles for my system.
git clone https://github.com/repoles/dotfiles.git ~/Code/Dotfiles
cd ~/Code/Dotfiles2. Install Homebrew
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"After installation, follow the instructions printed in the terminal to add Homebrew to your PATH.
brew install stow
mkdir -p ~/.claude ~/.codex
stow --verbose --target=$HOME */Create those two directories first. When a target directory doesn't exist yet, stow links the whole tree instead of its individual files, so on a fresh machine ~/.claude and ~/.codex would end up pointing into this repository — and everything Claude Code and Codex write at runtime (transcripts, plugin caches, auth.json) would land inside it. Directories that several packages share, like ~/.config, sort themselves out.
brew install fishAdd fish to the list of allowed shells and set it as default:
echo "$(which fish)" | sudo tee -a /etc/shells
chsh -s "$(which fish)"5. Install mise
mise is no longer meant to be installed through Homebrew, so it is not in the Brewfile and gets its own step:
curl https://mise.run | shThis puts the binary in ~/.local/bin/mise, which is where fish/.config/fish/conf.d/mise.fish expects it. Homebrew no longer handles the upgrades either:
mise self-updateOpen a new terminal (now running fish) and install everything from the Brewfile:
brew bundle --file=~/Code/Dotfiles/misc/Brewfile --no-upgrade --verboseThen check that mise is healthy and its tool paths come first in PATH:
mise doctor
