In @.github/workflows/node.yml:
- Around line 488-503: Separate report retrieval from the CodeBuild polling
shell step so it executes independently with an always-run condition, including
after polling failures or timeouts. In the new report-download step, reuse
CODEBUILD_BUILD_ID and preserve the existing report retrieval behavior so the
subsequent upload can publish reports from failed runs.
In @.github/workflows/npm-cd.yml:
- Around line 531-532: Update the Windows branch in the test-published-release
setup to exit the step successfully after printing its skip message, preventing
server verification and node tests from running without Valkey or Redis.
Alternatively, exclude the Windows matrix entry from this job and ensure the Run
utils/node Tests step is skipped for Windows via its condition.
In `@CHANGELOG.md`:
- Line 29: Update the changelog entry’s pull request reference so both the
displayed link text and URL use `#7026`, preserving the existing entry wording and
formatting.
In `@node/tests/GlideClient.test.ts`:
- Around line 2454-2455: Update the IPv6 test’s endpoint selection near the
cluster client setup to use a configured IPv6 address rather than the generic
first result from cluster.getAddresses(). If no IPv6 endpoint is available in
the environment, explicitly skip the test; keep the test bound to IPv6 so it
remains capable of detecting IPv6 regressions.
In `@node/tests/GlideClusterClient.test.ts`:
- Around line 3872-3873: Update the IPv6 test setup around
cluster.getAddresses() to select an endpoint explicitly identified as IPv6
rather than using the first cluster address. Resolve an IPv6 address and skip
the test when none is available, while preserving the existing host and port
assignment for the selected endpoint.
In `@node/tests/PubSub.test.ts`:
- Around line 6371-6375: Update getServerVersion to accept and forward a
readOnly parameter, then pass true from this recovery test so version discovery
honors read-only mode while preserving the existing clusterMode and tlsConfig
arguments.
In `@node/tests/setup.ts`:
- Line 11: Move the jest.retryTimes call from beforeAll to module scope in the
existing process.env.CI condition, preserving the current retry count and
logErrorsBeforeRetry option so CI retries apply reliably.
- Around line 16-21: Remove unconditional AWS credential injection from the
shared Jest setup. In the setup initialization, gate mock credentials behind an
explicit opt-in, assign access key and secret key together, and only assign
AWS_SESSION_TOKEN when the complete temporary credential set is intentionally
enabled, preserving IAM tests’ missing-credential guards and the default
credential chain.
In `@node/tests/SharedTests.ts`:
- Line 3041: Update the HPEXPIRETIME assertion near futureTimestamp to require
the returned timestamp to be bounded by futureTimestamp directly, removing the
+500 allowance while preserving the existing expiration validation.
- Line 7786: Update the pttl assertion in the expire test to keep the relative
EXPIRE upper bound at 10,000 ms, preserving any lower-bound tolerance needed for
timing variance. Do not apply the absolute-expiration clock-skew tolerance to
the client.expire/client.pttl path.
In `@node/tests/TlsTest.test.ts`:
- Around line 40-45: Update both initFromExistingCluster branches to pass a
wrapper callback that invokes getServerVersion with addresses, clusterMode, and
TLS_OPTIONS, ensuring external-cluster version discovery receives the configured
TLS settings.
In `@utils/cluster_manager.py`:
- Around line 1151-1165: The EC2 launch call in provision_ec2 must enforce
IMDSv2 and preserve the required project tag. Add MetadataOptions with
HttpTokens set to required, HttpPutResponseHopLimit set to 1, and HttpEndpoint
set to enabled, and add a Project tag with value glide-ci alongside the existing
instance tags.
- Line 1167: Update the instance-launch flow to read InstanceId from the
run_instances response, wait for the instance_running waiter, then call
describe_instances and obtain PrivateIpAddress from the refreshed instance data.
Apply this change around the launch method while preserving the existing
launch_linux_ec2 sequence as the reference behavior.
- Around line 1673-1686: Update the remote stop command construction near
stop_server() to forward the configured --tls and --auth options when they are
set, so secure clusters can be shut down. Add shell-safe quoting for the
authentication value, while preserving the existing command assembly and
behavior when either option is unset.
In `@utils/ec2_orchestrator.py`:
- Around line 229-230: Update the checkout flow around the git fetch and git
checkout commands to explicitly detect non-zero exit codes and fail before build
or test steps; ensure checkout success is verified so the script cannot continue
with the default-branch HEAD or report success when the requested commit was not
obtained.

Summary
Adds Windows CI support for the Node.js client using an EC2-orchestrated approach. A cheap Linux CodeBuild container acts as the orchestrator: it launches a Linux EC2 (Valkey server) and a Windows EC2 (build + test), copies
cluster_manager.pyto the Linux EC2 via SSM, and polls S3 for the test result. All actual building and testing happens on the EC2 instances. The Windows EC2 clones the repo, builds the Node.js native module with MSVC, runs the Jest integration test suite against the remote Valkey cluster, and uploads the test report to S3.Issue link

test-windowsjob innode.ymltriggers theGlideNodeWindowsCodeBuild project and downloads the HTML test report as a GitHub artifact. The job is gated byenvironment: AWS_ACTIONS(manual approval required).utils/ec2_orchestrator.py— orchestrates the Linux + Windows EC2 pair lifecycle, including SSM setup, S3 polling, and termination..github/buildspec/node-windows-ec2.yml— minimal CodeBuild buildspec that invokes the orchestrator.utils/cluster_manager.pygains--remote/--remote-ip/--remote-regionflags socreateCluster/closeClustercalls on Windows transparently forward to the Linux EC2 via SSM.utils/TestUtils.tsgainsappendRemoteArgs()which transparently injects the remote flags into allcluster_manager.pyinvocations whenC:\glide-remote.jsonis present.npm-cd.yml(no cross-compilation needed; direct MSVC build).node/rust-client/package.jsonremoves$npm_config_build_flags(incompatible with Windowscmd.exe).Implementation
Architecture:
Key implementation details:
cluster_manager.pyis gzip+base64 encoded and transferred to the Linux EC2 via a single SSMAWS-RunShellScriptcall during setup, avoiding any S3 staging.C:\glide-remote.json(written by user-data) to discover the Linux EC2's instance ID and private IP, then uses those in allcluster_manager.py --remotecalls.status.json(max 90 min) and downloadstest-report.htmlfor the GitHub artifact.cluster.ports().map(port => ({ host: 'localhost', port }))replaced withcluster.getAddresses().map(([host, port]) => ({ host, port }))throughout PubSub tests to support remote (non-localhost) Valkey nodes.Security hardening applied:
HttpTokens: required) enforced on both EC2 launches.--remote-ip,--cluster-folder, and--prefixvalidated incluster_manager.pybefore embedding in SSM shell commands (which execute as root).COMMIT_SHAis required and must be a 40-char hex string.C:\glide-remote.json,C:\warmup_ssm.py) deleted in the PowerShellfinallyblock before S3 upload.Project: glide-ci) — Windows EC2 can only send SSM commands to instances taggedglide-ci.boto3pinned to1.35.36in Windows user-data.Limitations
test-windowsjob requires manual approval via theAWS_ACTIONSenvironment and is triggered on full-matrix runs or scheduled builds.TlsTest,MutualTLS) are excluded from the Windows run (no certificate infrastructure on the Windows AMI).ServerModulestests excluded (module loading not available in the EC2 setup).Testing
