test(redis-rs): fix test-infra bugs masked by #[serial] and drop --test-threads=1 - #7249

yoke-derive 0.8.3 (and 0.8.2) were yanked on crates.io. deny.toml sets yanked = "deny", so every Rust lint job fails with error[yanked] once the runner's crates.io index is fresh. Bump to 0.8.4 in all 12 lockfiles via `cargo update -p yoke-derive`; this also pulls in synstructure 0.14 / syn 3 which 0.8.4 depends on. Proc-macro only, no source changes. Connection::read_response only set `open = false` when the read failed with UnexpectedEof. A peer that dies with data in flight delivers an RST first, so the read fails with ConnectionReset instead and is_open() stays true on a dead socket. The write path already classifies BrokenPipe, ConnectionReset and UnexpectedEof as a dropped connection via RedisError::is_connection_dropped; use the same predicate on the read path. Surfaced by test_basic::test_redis_server_down failing ~1 in 3 full parallel runs under cargo-nextest (assertion failed: !con.is_open(), after "Connection reset by peer"). `RedisCluster::with_modules` started every node on 7000..7000+N, so two clusters alive at once fought for the same ports, and a node from a previous test still holding 7000 failed the next test's spawn retries with `redis server creation failed`. That is the flakiness behind the `--test-threads=1` TODO in redis-rs.yml. Nodes now take an ephemeral port from `get_random_available_port()` like the standalone server already does. The cluster bus port is chosen explicitly (`--cluster-port`) because the default `port + 10000` is rejected by the server for client ports above 55535. Two reconnect tests in test_cluster_async.rs drop the cluster, start a new one and expect the old connection to recover, which only worked because the new cluster reused 7000-7002. `RedisCluster` now records the ports it bound and `TestClusterContext::restart_on_ports` rebuilds on them, making the "same addresses" intent explicit. No `#[serial]` or CI changes yet; this only makes removing them possible. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com>
`MOCK_CONN_BEHAVIORS` is a process-global map keyed by a caller-supplied name, and `RemoveHandler::drop` evicts by that name, so two live tests registering `"node"` tore each other's handler down (`MockConnectionUtils for "node" were not installed`). The colliding sites now use the enclosing test function name, hard-coded `node:PORT` redirects follow the name, and `register_new` asserts the name is not already registered so this cannot silently recur. That assertion found `test_cluster_replica_read` / `test_async_cluster_replica_read` re-registering under one name while the first handler was still alive; the second environment now has its own name. `block_on_all` installed a panic hook on every call and read a process-wide `static CHECK: AtomicBool`, so under concurrent tests one test un-installed another's hook and a panic in any test's tasks was attributed to whichever test polled the flag first (the code's own TODO called it "purely single threaded"). The hook is now installed once via `Once`, chained to the previous hook so the default panic report is kept, and sets a thread-local flag. The runtime is current-thread, so a panic inside this test's tasks is seen by this test only. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com>
get_random_available_port releases its probe socket before the server binds, so a concurrently starting test can take the port in that window. The old retry loop re-spawned on the same --port/--cluster-port, so it could never recover from a lost race. Extract a single-attempt start_node() (process reaped on early exit and on the port-never-opened timeout) and, on failure, pick a fresh port pair (PortPolicy::Fresh) for new clusters. restart_on_ports keeps the same ports (PortPolicy::Fixed) and waits for them to free, since a client already knows those addresses. Full parallel suite (no --skip): 706 passed, 0 failed, ~2m24s vs 1199s serialized. clippy --all-targets clean. test_async_cluster_scan_failover drops the cluster mid-scan and builds a new one, relying on it coming back on 7000-7002 so the connection's known node addresses still resolve. With random ports the new cluster is elsewhere and the reconnect task retries dead addresses indefinitely (observed: 80 min spin, 13 GB of WARN logs). Record the ports before the drop and bring the cluster back on them with TestClusterContext::restart_on_ports, as the two reconnect tests in test_cluster_async.rs already do. Replace the bare #[serial_test::serial] on the 7 OpenTelemetry tests with lets the non-OTel tests run concurrently while guaranteeing no test overlaps an OTel test, which is required because the OTel counters are process-global and any test can increment them via the MOVED path. Add every_test_declares_otel_scheduling_class, a source-walking guard that fails deterministically if any #[test] is missing the otel scheduling attribute, turning a future omission into a hard failure instead of a flake. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com> (cherry picked from commit f66b2decaab06c7f68ca5ac1ae27ebeb1820bdc1)
The OTel tests wrote spans/metrics to fixed /tmp/spans.json and
/tmp/metrics.json. Under a per-test-process runner (cargo-nextest) the
7 tests run concurrently and clobber each other's files ("Metric not
found", sibling's counter values); two cargo test invocations on one
machine had the same problem.
Scope the files to the process via a OnceLock<TempDir>, matching the
exporter's own singleton lifetime. Under nextest each test now has its
own files and needs no serialization at all (7/7 in 7.8s fully
concurrent); under cargo test the binary's tests share them and remain
serialized by #[serial_test::serial(otel)].

test_async_cluster_handle_missing_slots_in_split_multi_shard_command asserts that an MGET whose keys hash to unowned slots fails with ConnectionNotFoundForRoute. That error is produced on the first attempt, but the default client retries 16 times with exponential backoff through a slot refresh the mock can never satisfy, so the test took 7-15 minutes (403s and 810s measured locally) before returning the error it already had. Build the mock client with retries(0), matching the idiom other MockEnv tests in this file already use, so the test completes in milliseconds. Every redis-rs integration test carried `#[serial_test::serial]` and glide-core-engine.yml also passed `--test-threads=1` with a TODO to remove it "after we fix test flakyness". The flakiness was the test infrastructure fixed in the preceding commits (fixed cluster ports, shared mock-handler names, a process-global panic hook, process-global OpenTelemetry counters), not the tests. With those fixed the suite passes with default threads, so the attributes and the flag go. The OpenTelemetry tests keep `#[serial(otel)]` against the `#[parallel(otel)]` readers introduced earlier; that is the only serialization left. The uploaded artifact is renamed from `test-results.xml` to `test-output.log`: it is tee'd stdout, not JUnit. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com>

Serialized Test step over the period: 18m33s to 28m00s, median about 21m30s. Parallel: 5m48s, so 3.2x against the fastest serialized run and about 3.7x against the median. That is less than the 8-10x measured locally (126-134s vs ~1270s on an M-series laptop), which is the expected shape: the suite is bound by how many cluster boots the runner can overlap, and ubuntu-latest has fewer cores.
Two caveats so nobody over-reads a single run:
- Run-to-run spread on the serialized step is ~9 minutes (about 40%), so one more parallel run would be needed before quoting a firm ratio; the point that stands regardless is that the fastest serialized step ever recorded here is still 3x the parallel one.
- With the Test step at ~6 min,
Run benchmarks(7m05s) is now the longest step in the job.

Two inline notes, both on the same #[tokio::test] blind spot: the three perf tests this PR de-serialized end up with no scheduling class at all, and the new guard can't see #[tokio::test], so it won't catch them or the next one.
… see them The OTel scheduling guard exact-matched `#[test]`, so the 13 `#[tokio::test]` functions in test_cluster_async.rs were never checked and ran with no serial_test attribute at all. The ten AZ-affinity tests now run `parallel(otel)`; the three throughput tests run `serial(otel)`, since they assert on wall-clock rates and the blanket `#[serial]` they lost was what kept the machine quiet for them. The guard now matches `#[tokio::test]` and `#[tokio::test(...)]`, resolves `async fn` names, and asserts a per-spelling floor instead of `checked > 0`, so exempting one attribute spelling trips it regardless of how the other count grows. …ailure Two runs of the parallel suite (one local, one in CI) failed in `valkey-cli --cluster create` after every node had passed the readiness check: all five retries exited 1 within 250ms. The readiness check is a bare TCP connect, so a socket that another concurrently starting test left on a just-released ephemeral port satisfies it even though our node never bound, and the create loop then retries the same dead address. - After a node answers, query `INFO server` and require `process_id` to equal the spawned child's pid; a mismatch or an early exit is a start failure, which the existing per-node retry handles (fresh ports under `PortPolicy::Fresh`). - A `--cluster create` failure under `PortPolicy::Fresh` tears the nodes down and starts a new set on fresh ports instead of retrying the same addresses. - Capture the cluster-create output. redis-cli prints cluster-manager errors on stdout, which was discarded, so the CI failure carried no diagnostic. The TLS cert tempdir is kept separate from the node tempdirs so a node restart does not delete the certificates the new nodes are started with. …o a standalone test server In 1 of 10 parallel full-suite runs `TestContext::connect_with_retries` panicked with `Connection reset by peer` while connecting to a server it had just spawned. The helper retried only on connection refusal, but a reset is equally expected while the port settles: a sibling test's `get_random_available_port` probe listener (backlog 1, SO_REUSEADDR) can briefly hold the port, accept the connect, and drop it. - Retry on `is_connection_dropped()` as well as refusal, and fail fast if the spawned server has already exited. - Once connected, require `INFO server`'s `process_id` to be the spawned child's pid before running `FLUSHDB`, so a connection that landed on another test's server is reported instead of wiping its data. - Share the `INFO server` parser with the cluster harness. …ter a port collision `get_random_available_port` releases its probe socket before the child binds, so another process can take the port in between. The cluster harness already retries on fresh ports; the standalone `TestContext` constructors spawned once and panicked. They now share one bounded startup loop that re-spawns on a fresh address only when the failure is a collision (the child logged "Address already in use", or a live foreign process answered the ownership probe), and fail immediately on anything else so a misconfigured server is not retried elsewhere. `readiness::wait_for_server` returns a typed `ReadinessError` so that classification does not depend on matching message text; Display keeps the previous wording. Tests force each case deterministically: a held port retries on a fresh one, a foreign owner retries, a bad config directive is not retried, a persistent collision stops after the attempt limit, and the log string the classifier reads is pinned against what the server actually writes. Addresses the CodeRabbit standalone-restart comment on #7249. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com>
Both reservation tests ended by binding the just-released ephemeral port again. Sibling tests in the same binary boot real clusters whose outgoing connections can take that port in the meantime, so the bind raced the kernel's ephemeral allocation and failed in CI (overlapping_reservations_survive_drop_and_unwind, run 37382492429). The tests claim the reservation map released the port, so assert that directly. Signed-off-by: Neil Derraugh <neil.derraugh@improving.com>

Features / Behaviour Changes
One product-side fix, exposed by (and required for) parallel runs:
Connection::read_responseonly marked the sync connection closed onUnexpectedEof. A peer that dies with data in flight delivers RST, so the read fails withConnectionResetwhileis_open()still reports true on a dead socket. The write path already treated both as dropped; the read path now does too. Everything else is test code and CI config.Implementation
