Agents working in this repo had no stated rule about what counts as a public contract, so signature, hook, and schema changes could land without anyone flagging the impact. This carries over WooCommerce Core's canonical Backward Compatibility guardrail and grounds it in this plugin's real surface: the published Framework API interfaces, the wc_square_* and woocommerce_square_* hooks, the persisted gateway IDs, the woocommerce_square_customers table, and the admin/REST/Store API/Action Scheduler/WP-CLI contexts this code actually runs in.
