Please support Maya 2027

I installed the latest pymel for maya 2027 from:
https://github.com/iamsleepy/pymel/releases/tag/1.7.0rc1

when i try to load zMayaUtils.py, i got this error:

I'll take a look at this soon, just a bit busy at the moment. I think some old Python 2.x compatibility stuff broke, but that can just be removed at this point. (A little confused, there's no Maya 2027 on my AutoDesk account at all and I didn't even know it had been released...)

Try 62bec0a. I haven't had a chance to install 2027 yet (not currently doing anything Maya-related), but that might be the only issue and didn't want to leave this stuck. Let me know if you're still having trouble.

It was not working initially, but i changed shiboken2 to shiboken6 in maya_helpers.py and it works now. It does shows a warning:
Warning: Menu item moveSkinJointsItem does not exist, flag -insertAfter ignored.
but since i dont use that feature so its fine for me.

i also remove the shiboken line and replace with below so it works with new and old maya:

try:
    from shiboken6 import wrapInstance
except ImportError:
    from shiboken2 import wrapInstance

hope it helps out others who have the same problem :)

I updated to just use the current versions, since there are a bunch of them in different plugins. People on older Maya versions can just stick with the older version since there's no real reason for them to update anyway. Still need to check the native code (no idea if anybody's using any of that).

Hi @zewt, I'm trying to install it on Maya 2027 and I'm getting the following error when loading the plugins in the Plug-In Manager. Any chance that you could advise?

I don't know if this is the BEST solution but it does work...

1. Install to a sidecar dir

mayapy -m pip install --target "$env:MAYA_APP_DIR/2027/pymel" pymel

2. Fix the Python 3.13 break — pymel\internal\plogging.py, lines 148 and 177. logging._acquireLock/_releaseLock were removed in 3.13; logging._lock still exists:

logging._acquireLock()  →  logging._lock.acquire()
logging._releaseLock()  →  logging._lock.release()

3. Transplant the API caches — there's no mayaApi2027, so PyMEL regenerates on first import, and that segfaults Maya (it loads every plugin to introspect; Bifrost is on the crash stack):

PyMEL seems to be abandoned with no commits in a couple years. I'm using this fork:

https://github.com/iamsleepy/pymel

which fixes compatibility with current Maya and newer Python versions. I haven't tested it extensively, but it at least fixes the plogging problem and adds API cache data for 2027.
