Text area not validating the limit defined in the database. #6
Version: 6.5.2 (lower and higher versions have the same problem)
Details of the identified issue:
When a survey field is configured as a text area, it is possible to submit a long text response without any frontend-imposed limit. If more than 1,000 characters are entered and submitted, the frontend displays the success screen; however, the survey response is not recorded in the backend. A database error occurs when attempting to insert the data into the survey_vote.vote_value column, due to its explicit 1,000-character limit.
Recommended solution:
I believe it would be worth implementing frontend/backend validation to check the character count.
Note: Because of CKEditor, the character count may be higher than expected when visual/formatting features are used, since the underlying HTML markup is also stored.
