Yea, I think the problem with these base libraries and GCC is always that we need a newer GCC version to get the newest processor support/optimizations, so it kind of forces our hand in some ways.

Yeah...

Unfortunately, for performance reasons, I require a compiler that supports -march=znver5 for AOCL.

But there might be done way around this issue (statically linking libstdc++ is one). Trying to find a solution with as few side effects as possible.

Maybe for the time being here we can test only nightly.

Hmm maybe.
Let me think about it.

If we were to change the runner here to nightly, it would also be better to update the AOCL_JLL and the AOCL packages' compat to 1.12 right?

I don't think we need to put that strict a compat on the package. This is basically a problem with the underlying libraries on the OS I think, so if someone has a newer OS, the JLL would still work I believe.
